“Yes, I've completely lost my mind,” Hailey said, looking at him with a cold expression. “From today on, I'm
Hailey Dalton, not Henderson. I've never been a Henderson, and | never will be.
“I won't go back with you. I've always respected you as my father, and I didn’t want to bring shto you. But
you never considered me. You've done everything in your power to separate us.”
Hailey’s eyes reddened. “I've hurt him enough for you, for the family. | can’t do that again. Father, at the end of
the day, we're just connected by blood. You never raised me, and you have no right to control my life.”
Finley froze, looking stunned, as if at a loss for words.
Hailey bit her lip, a flicker of guilt crossing her heart, but this time, she had to choose Owen.
Owen had nearly given his life for her, and she owed him too much.
Finley sighed deeply, as though his heart had been shattered. “If you insist on this, | can’t say anything. If that’s
the path you choose, then walk it.”
Hailey lowered her eyes, closing them in resignation.
Finley glanced at her, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he only sighed and walked out of the
room.
The room fell silent again.
Hailey slowly took a deep breath and walked to the window, opening it to let in sfresh air.
The cold wind outside made her nose turn red after only a few moments.
She didn’t notice, but the man lying on the bed shifted slightly, his fingers twitching ever so slightly. Then, he
slowly opened his eyes.
The man who had been in a coma for a month finally regained consciousness.
He turned his head slightly, his blurry vision catching the slender figure of the woman standing by the window.
A single tear slid down Owen's cheek.
Hailey turned back around, her eyes widening. The tears that had just calmed now began to fall again.
After about half an hour of medical exams, Hailey returned to the room to find Owen unconscious again.
His back had healed quite a bit, but the scars remained.

Lying flat wasn’t an issue anymore.
At that moment, Owen lay in bed, pale, still receiving nutrients through an IV.
Hailey sat beside him, gently reaching out to take his hand, resting her head against his palm.
As evening settled, the dimming light bathed the room.
Owen's eyes fluttered open again, his arm brushing against soft skin.
He looked down and saw Hailey’s fair face reflected in his eyes.

Hailey woke with a start.

Hailey took off her shoes and climbed into bed with him.
Owen lifted his arm and pulled her into his embrace.
For the two of them, even a simple hug was enough to set their hearts racing
Owen, holding her close, gently ran his fingers through her long hair. “Hailey”
“Yeah.”
“I really missed you,” Owen whispered, his voice filled with longing
Hailey’s heart softened instantly. She raised her head, gazing at Owen's handsome, exquisite face. She tilted up
and kissed his nose. “Owen, | missed you too.”
Owen smiled softly, lowering his head to place a kiss on her forehead. “I love you.”
His words were sincere, filled with devotion.
“Owen, | love you too.” Hailey lifted her head, kissing him deeply.
In that peaceful, tender night, they lay together, falling asleep in each other's arms. Nothing in the world could
be more beautiful than that.
Owen had a strong constitution and recovered quickly. Within a week of waking up, he was practica}}, again,
even gaining a couple of pounds.

Hailey, on the other hand, was exhausted. Between her work, the hospital visits, and being kept busy by Owen at
night, she was barely keeping it together. It was hard to tell who was the patient at this point.
She had no room to be upset, though-Owen now had the upper hand, constantly using the fact that she left him
before to guilt-trip her.

When Owen was finally discharged, Hailey was determined to get spayback.
“Ah.” Owen sat up in bed, obediently opening his mouth, waiting for his food.
Hailey smiled, using a spoon to feed him.
“This is so good, no wonder it’s from my Hailey. Best nutritional theal ever, Owen said with a beaming smile,
playing the role of the perfect patient.

Richard stood nearby, unable to look at the scene without cringing
He glanced at Hailey, who had dearly had enough, and silently cursed Owen in his hear.
He just hoped Owen wouldn’t be too unbearable once he was out of the hospital.
“Hailey, I'm thirsty, Owen mumbled lazily.
Hailey rolled her eyes, grabbed a straw from the bedside table, stuck it into the water bottle, and handed it to
him.
Owen grinned, taking it eagerly, his smile as bright as ever.
“Mr. Calhoun, this contract needs your signature, Richard spoke up, seizing an opportunity.
Owen lazily glanced over, his voice distant. “Richard, I'm paying you all that money to be my assistant, not to
eat my meals. This small task, can’t you handle it yourself?”
Richard hesitated. “But... it needs your signature.”
“Fine, fine, why are you giving Richard such a hard time? You're the boss. Signing a paper won't kill you,” Hailey
said, lifting her chin and tossing the file onto Owen's lap. “Sign it!”
Richard thought to himself, ‘Hailey, you're a boss!‘
“Hailey, you don’t loveanymore.” Owen pouted, looking like he was about to throw a tantrum. “You actually

“Stop talking nonsense, just do it.” Hailey rolled her eyes.
Owen begrudgingly took the pen and signed his non the last page of the contract. He then tossed the paper
back to Richard, looking at Hailey with a pitiful expression.
“I'll leave now,” Richard said quickly, eager to escape.
Hailey stood up. “I'll walk you out.”
Richard hurriedly declined, practically running away.
Owen, still in bed, whined like a little kid, “Hmph, you've changed.”
Hailey sat down beside him, resting her chin in her hand, smiling amusedly. “Hey, Owen, aren't you being a little
too childish?”
