have you been these past few years?”
Casey choked back a sob, her voice trembling as she replied, Tve been good, Hailey What about you”
So much had happened over the years. Hailey’s car accident had shattered them all, and when she cback to
life, they were all left in shock and disbelief. But the tthey had together was too short.
Before they could even get used to being together again, she had left once more.
Casey was understandably angry and frustrated, but now, she didn’t want to argue. All she wished was for Hailey
to be happy. wherever she was.
“I'm sorry, Casey,” Hailey said, knowing that the Medrano family must have harbored resentment toward her.
She had been out of touch for three years, living abroad without a word, cutting off all contact with everyone in
Wothaland.
Casey shook her head. “None of that matters. As long as you're back, that’s all | care about.”
Hailey smiled faintly and reached up to ruffle Casey’s hair.
The two of them hadn’t seen each other in ages, so they decided to chat in the hospital garden.
Not long after, another figure appeared.
The newcomer was dressed in a sharp white business suit, with shoulder-length hair that was neat and tidy,
holding hands with a man.
“Hailey,” the woman called out, her voice bright.
Hailey turned around and almost didn’t recognize her.
It took a moment before she finally managed to say, “Eliza?”
Eliza laughed and sprinted toward her, throwing herself into Hailey’s arms.
Before graduating high school, Eliza had gone abroad, leaving her studies behind to care for Christopher while he
underwent leg treatments. Now, her career was stable, and her love life was fulfilling

As for Christopher, he had grown from the stubborn, immature young man he once was into a gentle and mature
young
man.
His leg had fully healed after years of treatment. The journey had been grueling, and without Eliza by his side,
Christopher knew he wouldn't have made it through.
Their bond had only deepened over the years, and they were now inseparable.

Christopher stood silently, watching Hailey with nothing but gratitude in his heart.
The feelings he had for her as a teenager had been admiration, seeing her as a beacon of hope.
But the one truly worth cherishing was the woman who had stood by his side all along
He smiled slightly at Hailey.
Hailey returned the smile, her heart warming at the sight of them both.
Eliza and Hailey hadn't seen each other in over five years, so they had much to catch up on.
Christopher gave them the space they needed and headed off to the hospital room.
It was meant to be a joyous reunion, but Hailey was too preoccupied with Owen's condition, so the conversations
were brief. She mostly listened as Eliza and Casey shared their news.
Owen still hadn't woken up.
The doctors had said his condition was dire, and Hailey couldn’t think about anything else.
As the two girls shared their updates, Casey sighed and looked at Hailey. “What did the doctors say?”
Hailey gently touched her forehead, her face pale as she whispered, “lis injuries are severe. Whether he wakes
up or not, it’s still uncertain.”
Eliza and Casey exchanged a heavy look, both feeling the weight of the situation.
The sky grew dark as thick clouds covered the sun, and soon, heavy rain began to fall in Achusville.
The three of them made their way back to the hospital room.
Just as they stepped out of the elevator, they ran into Raphael.
“I've already sent your things back to your apartment. I've also arranged your toff with the company. Stay
here and take care of him,” Raphael said, looking at Hailey with a calm expression.
“Thank you,” Hailey replied quietly.
A few seconds later, Raphael added, “By the way, Parker askedfor your address. He'll be coming over in the
next couple of days.”
Hailey was momentarily stunned. She nodded softly.
Owen was his son, and with everything that had happened, it made sense for Parker to come.
Raphael glanced at her, his lips parting as if he wanted to say something more.
Hailey quickly understood what he wanted to say. She bit her lip and replied, “I know. You don’t need to remind
me.”
Raphael sighed softly, then said, “Well, the holiday at the hospital is coming to an end. | need to go back.”
“Safe travels,” Hailey murmured.
Raphael nodded, giving her one last long look before stepping into the elevator.
“Hailey,” Eliza said, her voice filled with concern, “is there another reason why you left Mr. Calhoun all those
years ago?”
Hailey smiled briefly, but said nothing, heading toward the hospital room.

Two days later, Parker arrived.

He had cin a rush, tired and worn from travel, his eyes bloodshot from exhaustion. Seeing the man in his
fifties, full of worry, Hailey felt a pang of guilt.
No matter how Parker had been in the past, when it cto Owen, he truly cared.
If Owen didn’t wake up, Parker would be devastated.
Ivan had arranged a hotel for Parker, and tpassed slowly.
A month had passed in the blink of an eye.
The weather grew colder as autumn set in.
Ivan stayed at the hospital for a week before leaving. As the CEO of the Gibbs Group, his schedule was packed
with work, and a week away had left him with a mountain of tasks.
Casey stayed behind. She didn’t want Hailey to be alone.
Ivan wasn’t pleased, but there was nothing he could do.

They had to part ways for the tbeing.
Autumn was upon them, and things seemed to be settling back into their routine.
Gracie had quietly disappeared.
Hailey worked and cared for Owen, and in a month's time, she had visibly lost weight.
In the evening, she finished work and went straight to the hospital.
Outside Owen's room stood a familiar figure.
Hailey paused for a moment. “Giovani?”
Giovani Garrett, her father’s secretary, smiled at her.
Giovani, in his forties, was courteous and well-spoken, one of Finley's most trusted aides.
Hailey walked past him and entered the room.
Inside, Finley stood by the window in his suit.
“Father,” she called softly, closing the door behind her.
Finley turned to face her with an unreadable expression. “How have you been?”
Hailey replied quietly, “I'm fine,” then walked over to Owen's bedside to massage his stiff muscles.
He had been unconscious for so long, and without regular massages, his muscles would deteriorate.
Finley watched her actions, and a flash of anger crossed his face.
Unable to control himself, he marched over and grabbed Hailey’s wrist, his voice low and furious. “Do you what
you're doing? He's your cousin!”
Hailey looked up at him, meeting his gaze. “I know. We can choose not to have children.”

Finley stared at her in shock, then raised his hand and slapped her hard across the face.
Hailey inhaled deeply, her expression cold as she looked at him. “Father, we loved each other first. We've done
nothing wrong. This time, nothing will stop me.”
Finley's voice trembled with fury. “You've completely lost your mind!”
