Hailey had just arrived in Achusville, and since she wasn’t familiar with the area, the location for the dinner

gathering was chosen by the group. They ultimately settled on a barbecue restaurant-lively and perfect for a

group meal.

As soon as work ended, six or seven people left the office, heading straight for the barbecue place.

Of the men in the Translation Department, only two had cars, excluding their boss. The women were hesitant to

ride with their boss, so they split into two cars with the two gentlemen.

“What's this? Are you all afraid I'll eat you?” Victor raised an eyebrow, his tone teasing.

“Of course not! We're just worried you'll quiz us on work,” one of the women responded, laughing. “Besides, with

Miss Dalton here, how could we dare get into your car?”

“Well, well, well, when have | ever refused to give you all a ride?” Victor chuckled, playfully scolding them.

Laughter filled the air. After a few jokes, Hailey and one of the male colleagues climbed into Victor's car.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the barbecue restaurant.

It was buzzing with activity, full of chatter and laughter.

Victor reserved a private room, and the group ordered a large platter of barbecue along with various side dishes.

As the food was still being prepared, they casually began chatting.

Naturally, the topic turned to Hailey, who had just joined the company.

“Miss Dalton, did you study abroad? How did you end up in Wothaland?” one male colleague, Kaiden Tucker,

asked. He was tall, handsome, and radiated a sunny charm, earning him the nickn‘department heartthrob.

“Whoa, when did Kaiden becso interested in Miss Dalton?” a female colleague teased, her tone dripping

with envy.

Mia Cain, a striking woman around twenty-five, chimed in.

Kaiden chuckled awkwardly, scratching his head, while the others erupted in mock disapproval.

Hailey smiled gently and responded, “The head office senthere, but | do plan to return to Wothaland. After

all, that’s where I'm from; it's my roots.”

Victor raised his glass with a smile. “Well said, Miss Dalton. No matter where we go, we must remember where

we cfrom. This toast is for you.”

Hailey smiled and lifted her glass.

“How many years did you spend abroad, Miss Dalton?” Mia asked, her curiosity evident.

Hailey said, “Four or five years.”

“I've heard that overseas cultures are more open. With your looks, I'm sure you had plenty of suitors. How many

boyfriends have you had, Miss Dalton?” Mia pressed, clearly eager for gossip.

Hailey glanced at Mia, her smile faint as she replied, “I didn’t date anyone while abroad.”

“Really?” Mia's eyes widened. “Con, we're not strangers! We'll be working together for years. Tell us a little

about it, satisfy our curiosity!”

“Mia, that's a bit too personal. You shouldn't ask such things,” a colleague sitting next to Mia whispered, pulling

at her sleeve.

Mia pouted but relented. “Fine, since the manager doesn’t want to talk, | won't press further.”

Hailey just smiled, taking a sip of water, keeping her thoughts to herself.

Before the conversation could continue, a waiter entered with the food, and the topic shifted.

Kaiden, sitting next to Hailey, leaned closer to her and quietly offered, “Mia’s just like that. Don’t mind her.”

Hailey, not quite used to Kaiden leaning in so close, subtly moved back but smiled. “I understand. | won't hold it

against her.”

Kaiden, still smiling warmly, said, “Hailey, what do you like to eat? I'll get sfor you”

“No need, | can serve myself,” Hailey replied.

Pretending not to hear her, Kaiden continued with a grin, “The corn looks great. Letget you some.”

“Really, it’s fine,” Hailey said, slightly exasperated.

Mia, watching the exchange, was burning with jealousy.

She had worked hard for two years, thinking she would be promoted to manager. Instead, the head office had

sent someone new to take the position-and now her crush was being stolen away by Hailey. Mia could barely

contain her jealousy.

She put down her fork, grabbed a glass of wine, and handed it to Hailey with a forced smile. “I'm sorry about the

question earlier. This drink is my apology.”

Hailey smiled faintly. “It's fine, really. | wasn’t bothered.”

“Still, you should drink it. This dinner is a welcfor you; it wouldn't be right if you didn’t join in,” Mia insisted

with a playful tone.

The group cheered in unison.

Hailey reluctantly took the glass.

As soon as Hailey reached for the wine, Mia let go of the glass, and the drink splashed all over Hailey’s chest.

Hailey had worn a white shirt and loose trousers to look professional. The wine soaked right through, revealing

the outline of her undergarments.

Instinctively, Hailey covered her chest with her hands, standing up quickly. “Excuse me, | need to take care of

this,” she said, her tone calm yet firm.

“Sorry, | didn’t mean to!” Mia apologized, flustered.

Hailey said nothing, simply walking out of the room.

“Do we have any napkins?” Kaiden asked, looking concerned.

A colleague handed him snapkins.

“I'll go check on her. You all go ahead and eat,” Kaiden said, then quickly left the room.

Mia's face turned pale.

Hailey hurried to the restroom in her heels, trying to clean up the red wine stain on her shirt. Unfortunately,

there was no way to get rid of it completely, and with the shirt still wet, she couldn't return to the table in her

current state.

The worst part? She hadn’t brought a jacket.

After a quick attempt to clean up the stain, she pressed snapkins to the wet spot

Just then, the restroom door swung open, and a curly-haired woman stepped out. Seeing Hailey’s predicament,

the woman kindly offered, “Do you need help?”

She removed her own jacket and offered it to Hailey.

Hailey looked up, offering a polite smile. “Wouldn't it be too much trouble?”

The woman was stunning-fair-skinned, with delicate makeup and a gentle demeanor. She shook her head,

smiling, “It's no trouble at all. It's just a jacket.”

Hailey hesitated for a moment before accepting the jacket. “Thank you. Let's exchange numbers, and I'll return it

to you once | get it cleaned.”

The woman nodded with a smile. “I'm Gracie Burke.”

Hailey smiled back. “Hailey.”

Once she was finished, Hailey and Gracie left the restroom together.

But as they stepped out, Hailey froze in her tracks.

“Owen, what are you doing out here?” Gracie’s cheerful voice called out as she ran toward a man standing by

the window. She threw herself into his arms.

Owen had been on the phone but turned at the sound of her voice. His sharp, handsface was unmistakable.
