God-was Alpha blind? Could he not see all those bruises on Aubrey’s body?

| stared in disbelief at Alpha Henry as he turned and went back upstairs; just moments ago, he had actually told
Madam Adelyn-
“She’s fine; you can rest assured.”
Fine? How could that wench be fine? Robert had toldhimself-they’d stripped her down, grabbed and groped
her all over; they just hadn't managed to fully assault her.
“No way!”
| couldn’t help but scream out, “Alpha! Are you-"
My outburst was cut short the moment Alpha’s cold gaze locked onto me. My entire body felt frozen in place.
He was merely standing on the stairs, looking down atwithout a word; yet the suffocating pressure
envelopedinstantly.
Cold sweat broke out in waves across my back. | snapped out of it in horror-I'd completely lost control and dared
to question Alpha in public.
“Tsk; there's something off about the youngest Mary daughter. Why does she seem so eager for Aubrey to have
been assaulted?”
“Isn't it obvious? She's jealous that an Omega like Aubrey is marrying Alpha. She wants to take her place!”
“Ah-suddenly reminded me; one night when | passed by the Mary residence, | heard the sound of a whip and a
woman screaming in the basement. Could that have been Aubrey?”
The hushed whispers rose around me; my face went pale.
“Say something, Bailey!” My wolf, Sasha, urgedsharply in my mind.
| forced myself to react; under Alpha’s cold, commanding gaze, | forced a dry smile.
“I was just saying, there's no way Aubrey could've been assaulted... clearly it was all a misunderstanding.”
Alpha Henry stared down at me; his piercing eyes seemed to see straight through me. | was terrified.
“Hmph.”

Finally, he let out a cold, dismissive/snort and turned away, continuing upstairs.
Once out of his sight, | finally loosened up a little. But the meaningful glances from the others made it painfully
clear-my careless outburst had been a mistake.
Now, speople would suspect | hated my sister, Aubrey.
My carefully crafted image of kindness was falling apart... damn Aubrey; this was all her fault! What spell had
she cast on Alpha to make him cover for her?

Aubrey’s POV

At the end of the hallway, Alpha Henry passed bywithout so much as a glance; his expression icy, distant,
practically screaming cold arrogance and pent-up irritation.
But he had helped me; now, it was tforto handle the rest.
| walked down the stairs and went straight to Adelyn. Facing her still-concerned gaze, | smiled brightly.
“Madam, since the misunderstanding has been cleared up, I'll head hnow; Alpha doesn’t seem too happy to
seeanyway.”
My words reinforced the fact that Alpha Henry hated me; this would givean excuse to bring up breaking off
the engagement later.
Adelyn squeezed my hand comfortingly.
“Don’t worry; I'll make sure justice is served for you.”
| nodded; then turned to my father.
“Dad, let's go home.”
He seemed to wake from a daze; stammering, he said,
“Huh? Oh-oh, yes! Let's go home!”
This time, neither Aurelia nor Bailey spoke; they followed along, looking thoroughly defeated.
Before we left, Adelyn insisted they taketo freshen up and change clothes-a gesture that showed her
genuine care for me.
The banquet ended. Once the car pulled out of Alpha’s estate, we hadn't driven far before Aurelia could no
longer hold back.
She turned, eyes blazing, and glared at me.
“Aubrey! What was that tonight? You looked a complete mess; how disgraceful!”
Her harsh glare made my breath catch.
Growing up, I'd always been conditioned to fear Aurelia’s moods; the moment she got angry, | would instinctively
shrink away-just as | had in my past life. My stepmother had always been an oppressive force
over me.
But now—that fear was rapidly
replaced by somethi ggharper what
Pl bejore Sidhe than
shedding fear with my own hands?
Seeingfall silent again, Bailey immediately burst into tears.
“Aubrey, | was only trying to help, | just said the wrong thing... why did you humiliatelike that in front of
everyone?”
The moment Bailey started crying, my father’s brows furrowed in concern; his eyes filled with pity.
Turning toward me, he looked displeased.
