As 4 ant there stunned. Aurelia’s shrill voice tang in my ear.
What now? You make a mistake and no one’s allowed to call you out for it? Being your stepmother is really a
thankless job: I've worked so hard to raise you all these years, and now that you've grown up and snagged an
Alpha fiance, you want to turn against me?”
As she spoke, she shot my father a look, her expression full of exaggerated grievance.
“Look at your daughter! | can’t manage her anymore. She never listens; now she talks back at every turn. I've
done nothing but care for her, and she treatslike an enemy..”
Ar that, Father grew even more displeased.
“Aubrey, you're being too disrespectful. Apologize to your mother right now!”
Bailey glanced at my pale face and fanned the flames.
“Daddy, don’t be mad at Aubrey; she only lost her temper tonight because those bad people scared her.”
“And being scared gives you the right to lash out at your family?” Father glared at me.

Family?
At that, | finally smiled faintly. Anyone with eyes could see who was bullying whom right now; my dear father had
always been shamelessly biased.
The restless feeling insideonly grew stronger; | felt like | was about to explode.
| forced myself to stay calm.
“Father, you all go on ahead; | have something to take care of,”
Hearingchange the subject, Aurelia’s brows shot up in anger.
“Oh? So you think you can just ignore what your father said? And what could you possibly have to do this late at
night?”
“You're a wolf-less Omega, running around dressed like that-what if you attract sthugs again? What if they
rape you this time?”
“Flies don’t swarm where there’s no rot, Aubrey! You can’t go tempting fate and giving those men an excuse to
take advantage of you!”
Her words made it sound as if Robert and the others had only gone afterbecause | was promiscuous.
A flash of fury burned in my eyes; the restlessness insideboiled over.

I hadn't always been like this-always submissive, timid, terrified of my stepmother. | used to let her beatat
home, tarnish my reputation in public, and I never dared to defend myself. It had turnedinto a useless
coward; I'd even died miserably.
But now-just hearing Aurelia’s voice setablaze; every second, | wanted to tear her mouth apart.
“Madam!”
| suddenly raised my voice.
| had always called her Mother; this sudden switch stunned everyone in the car.
I locked eyes with her for a moment, then swept my gaze toward Father and Bailey.
“So according to you, | should've kept quiet; let Bailey slander me; let the crowd believe that I-an Alpha’s
fiancée-had been defiled and used; lost the ability to bear Alpha’s children; and that would've pleased you? That
would've kept the family’s honor intact?”
“You... what nonsense are you spouting...”
Under my icy gaze, Aurelia started to waver.
Father looked stunned too.
“Father.”
This Father cout cold; hard-edged; almost as though soaked in blood.
“Father, you're too biased! Bailey's your child; am | not? | was hunted by werewolves tonight; nearly assaulted!
My body is covered in injuries! You don’t even care-but when Madam smears me, you still think it's my fault?
Have you considered what would happen if people truly believed I'd been with those two beasts? I'd have no
future! I'm Alpha’s fiancée; the werewolves of Shadowmoon Pack worship Alpha. They wouldn't tolerate
someone betraying him-especially not in such a shameful way! Their rage would drive them mad; they'd tear
out my throat, rip off my limbs, and stuff the deadliest wolfsbane down my throat! Father | only want to survive;
is that wrong?”
Father was completely stunned; for the first time, | had torn the mask off and told him to his face how biased he
was.
Bailey realized things were going south; she quickly choked out a sob.
“Aubrey, you're making it sound so scary... even if you wanted to prove your innocence, you shouldn't have
spoken toand mom like that... we didn’t mean any harm; now what must outsiders think of us...”
“Shouldn't have?” | laughed bitterly; the fire insidewas uncontrollable now, and I no longer tried to contain

“Well then, letask you, dear sister-what was the first thing you said when you saw me? You asked if
someone had tried to take advantage of me, didn’t you? And after that, every word out of your mouth smeared
spectacle of yourself; | merely exposed you for it-how is that my fault?”
| didn’t hold back at all; Bailey's sobs faltered, her face paling with shame.
