Amid the commotion caused by the news, Nola had no interest in shopping. The clothes were too expensive, and
she couldn't bear to buy them. After thinking it over, she decided to cback another time. With nothing else
to do, the two of them left early.
As she left, Nola didn’t notice two familiar figures coming out from another door.
When Tanya saw Nola get into a BMW, her face turned sour.
“Mom, isn't that Nola? She actually married Elvis and has a dedicated car picking her up.” Even Tanya didn’t get
treated that well at home. Thinking that Nola was living a better life than her, Tanya felt resentful.
“I heard from your dad that it seems to be true. Mr. Joan is not happy about it, but it’s the Grayson family, and he
can’t do anything about it. However, the Grayson family hasn’t made any moves, so it’s uncertain whether
someone like her will be accepted by them. Who knows if she is able to live well there or if it’s all just for show.”
“People are saying that Elvis has always been obsessed with his deceased girlfriend. Isn't Nola just becoming a
widow? Mom, I'm not happy about this. Nola has married into such a good family, shouldn't we ask her to bring
her husband hfor a meal? She can’t just forget about the Grant family now that she’s flying high.”
Lelia suddenly understood her daughter's meaning. Nola had cout alone, so it seemed like her life wasn’t
much better.
With such a prominent family background like the Graysons, how could Elvis get married without inviting guests?
But now there was no movement at all. Lelia heard that Elvis‘ parents were still outside, and the old Mrs.
Grayson was still in the hospital. Nola was definitely being ignored, just a dispensable role.
And yet, Nola had the nerve to cout.
“Don’t worry, if that bitch dares to touch you, Mom won't let her get away with it. Just take this opportunity to
call Javion back and have a family meal to get to know him. | want to see if Elvis really cares about this bitch.”

touched her face. If it weren't for the special medicine, her bruises wouldn't have healed so quickly. She believed
that it was Nola’s fault.
Today, Tanya applied a thick layer of foundation to cover the bruises before leaving the house. Since Nola dared
to lay a hand on Tanya, Nola would have to pay an even more painful price. This was Tanya's rule, and no one
was exempt!
While Lelia and Tanya were discussing how to educate Nola, Nola couldn't stop thinking about what Linda had
said. Elvis was a good man, and perhaps she should give herself a chance at love.
Maybe not everyone was as callous as Dad. Weren't Elvis’ parents very much in love with each other back then?
She shouldn’t have been afraid of love and avoided it just because her mother’s marriage failed. She had already
married Elvis and should have enjoyed every day with him instead of overthinking things.
Back at Breeze Garden, Alisa saw Nola carrying a pile of books, which seemed odd.
“Didn’t Mrs. Grayson go shopping for clothes?” Alisa asked.
“Um... | didn’t find anything | really liked, so | bought sbooks instead,” Nola replied.
After hesitating for a long time, Nola finally mustered up the courage to send Elvis a message, asking if he would
chfor dinner and if she should wait for him.
She thought she would get a quick response, but after waiting for an hour, she still hadn't heard back from him.
She checked the tand figured he was probably busy. Even after work, she still hadn’t received any message
from him. She hesitated for a while before mustering up the courage to call him.

Elvis sat in his office, staring at the gloomy weather outside, with his phone in his hand, not knowing how to
reply to Nola’s
message.
It wasn’t until Damion reminded him that Elvis remembered tomorrow was Nancy's anniversary. Elvis felt like he
had just woken up from a dream and blamed himself for forgetting such an important day.
Elvis had been busy with Nola’s affairs these days. Since Nola appeared, he had paid too much attention to her.
Realizing this terrible thing, Elvis constantly reminded himself that the person he loved should be Nancy.
He had only known Nola for a short tand was probably just enchanted by her.
After reading the message, he deliberately didn’t reply. Unexpectedly, when it was tto get off work, Nola
actually called.
The phone rang for a long time, and in the end, Elvis answered, “What's up?”
“Are
you off work? Do you wantto wait for you to cback for dinner tonight?” Nola was a bit nervous but
didn’t want to appear too eager. She explained, “If you have other plans and eat outside, I'll tell Alisa to prepare
less food.”
“I have to work overtime!” Even lying so calmly, looking out the floor-to-ceiling window through the gloomy sky,
he seemed to see those bright eyes on the other end of the phone, gradually dimming with disappointment on
Nola’s small face.
He felt a tremor in his heart, and then realized that he was thinking of Nola again. Elvis was a bit irritable, not
wanting her face to keep appearing in his mind. It made him feel like he was betraying Nancy.
“Well, you have to remember to eat something yourself. Alisa said your stomach isn’t too good, right?”
“Um! | have something to do, so I'll hang up.” Elvis quickly hung up the phone and threw his mobile phone aside,
feeling a bit annoyed.

Nola was so smart, how could she not feel his distance, seeming unwilling to talk to him. She probably didn't
want to reply to his text message either! She even asked him so warmly, and now what? She had just humiliated
herself, hadn't she?
She cursed herself in her heart, thinking she shouldn't have overthought things.
Alisa brought in hot tea and saw that Nola was unhappy. She asked carefully, “Mrs. Grayson, what's wrong?
Weren't you happy just now? Did Mr. Grayson say something to upset you?”
“It's nothing, Alisa, I'm fine.”
“Don’t mind it, Mrs. Grayson. Mr. Grayson has been like this for the past few years. He's been depressed ever
since Nancy left, and his mood has improved slightly since you came. Tomorrow is Nancy’s anniversary, and Mr.
Grayson is inevitably. not in a good mood. Don’t take it to heart, give Mr. Grayson stime.”
“Tomorrow is that girl's anniversary?”
Alisa nodded, “I'm just a servant, and | shouldn't be talking too much. Mrs. Grayson, you should act like you
don’t know anything. Mr. Grayson won't intentionally pick a fight with you, don’t take it personally.”
Nola nodded, finally understanding why he was in a bad mood and distant in his words.
“So tomorrow is the anniversary of that girl, it’s understandable that he’s not in a good mood. But it has been so
long, doesn’t he feel tired of holding on to it?” thought Nola.
That night, Elvis cback very late, and it was Damion who brought him back. Nola had been waiting for him
and smelled
alcohol as soon as he arrived.
“You're back? Are you hungry? I'll cook you noodles. You have problems with your stomach, so you should drink
less alcohol,” Nola blurted out. But his words extinguished her enthusiasm instantly.
