Nola’s heart tightened as she stared at Elvis, dumbfounded. She didn’t expect him to say such things and she

couldn't even argue back.

“I'm just reminding you,” Nola said.

“I don’t need it! Nola, you are my legal wife, but remember, just my legal wife. Don’t try to flatter me, stay away

from me, and don’t have any extra delusions,” Elvis said coldly.

“You're drunk.”

His words felt like thorns piercing Nola’s heart. She felt as if she had been slapped in the face. She shouldn't

have been even a little good to Elvis. It was best to draw a clear line between them, as that was the most

appropriate way for them to coexist.

Nola had crossed the line herself and forgotten that their marriage was based on a business deal. It was just a

business transaction after all.

“No matter what you do, you can’t replace Nancy's place in my heart. In the future, stay away fromand stop

trying to seduce me. Do you remember that?” Elvis said, feeling annoyed. He couldn't get rid of her face at work,

and now he had to see her again at home.

What was wrong with him? He had seen many women before. Nola was just a non-compliant little wildcat. What

was there to think about?

Elvis coldly avoided Nola, as if she was a terrifying virus.

Watching his slightly embarrassed figure, Nola sneered, “Sure, Mr. Grayson.”

Elvis paused for a moment and then went upstairs without hesitation.

Nola felt uneasy in her heart. Her previous worries had ctrue. She had just tried to care about Elvis and

hoped they could live a good life together. Maybe the future would be beautiful. Who knew that her fantasy

would be so short-lived and easily shattered?

It was her own fault. She thought too much, and now she was paying the price.

Nola stood downstairs by herself for a long tbefore she regained her composure and strode upstairs with a

wry smile. It was good to go back to the original point, after all, their relationship should be like this, and she had

no reason to be sad.

Lying in bed with the heater on, Nola still felt a bit cold and curled up into a ball. She didn’t know how long it

took her to fall asleep. Elvis didn’t cinto the room, and Nola didn’t bother him by knocking on his door in the

study.

When she opened her eyes, the sky was already bright. Alisa said that today was the anniversary of that girl's

death. Nola still got up as usual, but only then did she realize that the bed next to hers was cold and untouched.

It seemed that he didn’t cback to the room last night to sleep.

Although it wasn’t ideal, Nola still planned to ask Alisa to prepare a guest room for her today. By separating

themselves, things that shouldn't happen would not happen again.

As expected, when she went downstairs, there was no sign of Elvis.

Alisa took the initiative to say, “Mr. Grayson went to the company early this morning and said he would be away

on a business trip for a few days.”

“A business trip?” Nola muttered, then laughed, “I see.” She laughed heartily and sat down to eat breakfast.

There was no need to avoid her. It was good for her to calm down for a few days, read sbooks, and focus on

the recruitment exam for the Grayson Group, rather than these illusory feelings.

Love was simply a luxury for her.

After finishing breakfast, Nola said to Alisa, “Alisa, please tidy up a guest room for me.”

“Mrs. Grayson, why do you want to stay in a guest room when you have such a nice room? | can’t make that

decision”

“You can’t make the decision, but I can. Just do as | say. | need a quiet place to study and prepare for the exam.

Don’t worry, Elvis won't get angry. If anything happens, just blit on me.”

Moving to a guest room, it would also prevent him from speaking up and making them both embarrassed.

Nola was a person with insight and wouldn't be so thick-skinned as to need someone to ask her to move. She

had she would be a competent Mrs. Grayson and not let Elvis be disgusted with her. This was her future life.

that

Sure enough, Elvis didn’t cback for the next two days. At first, Nola was a little unaccustomed, but she

quickly adapted and focused on studying. Alisa noticed how hard Nola was working and reminded her not to

overwork herself.

Nola locked herself in her room and felt much more at ease. She also put aside all the messy things for a while.

However, her quiet life was interrupted by a phone call from her father. She hesitated for a moment before

answering it.

“Nola, what are you doing?”

“What do you want?”

“You child, why are you talking to your father in that tone? | know my previous actions made you angry, but it

was for your own good. You have a better place to go, and naturally, | am happy, but now that you are married,

at least chand visit.”

“Dad, what do you want to say?”

“I just want to apologize for what happened before. It was all my fault. | was worried about you and how you

were doing in the Grayson family. You are still my daughter, after all.”

“I'm doing fine.”

“Good, then this Friday, you and your husband should chfor a meal! Our family should have a reunion

dinner. You won't refuseon such a small matter, will you?”

Nola frowned, “Elvis... he’s too busy with work.”

“I am his father-in-law. This is basic etiquette. Even if he is busy, what's wrong with having a family meal?

Besides, | have something important to tell you about your mother. You can decide whether to cor not.

Friday at 8 pm, I'll be waiting for you to cback.”

Before Nola could refuse, Myles hung up the phone. Nola felt helpless. Elvis was away on a business trip, and she

didn’t know when he would return. How could they meet her family?

Even if he cback, he might not agree to go. But it was about her mother, and if she didn’t go, she was afraid

of missing something important. After much consideration, she could only go alone.

Nola had been living with the Grant family for so long that she had nothing to be afraid of.

Those people wouldn't eat her raw. Worst of all, nothing more.

Nola thought that after leaving the Grant family, she wouldn't have any more dealings with them. But now it

seemed that things weren't as simple as she had imagined. Blood ties couldn’t be broken. This time, she would

use the opportunity to ask her father what her mother had said.

Then she wouldn't be under their control anymore.

However, would her father tell her everything readily?

Only when she becstrong would she no longer be bullied by those people. She didn’t need to think too much

to know what she would face if she went back alone.

Lelia and Tanya would never miss such a good opportunity to ridicule her. Fortunately, Nola had a tough spirit

and was immune to their words. Was there really something important to say, or was it just for him to vent his

anger at Tanya's incident and stand up for his beloved daughter? When the tcame, the truth would naturally

cto light.

What had to happen would happen. Nola never worried unnecessarily. If the enemy came, she would meet them

head-on.
