Chapter 22

Elvis pulled himself away from Nola when he cto his sense. It wasn’t easy, but he managed. Nola gasped

breathlessly: with a reddened face, feeling like it was a dream. She looked bewildered, and her mind went blank

momentarily, which Elvis found very attractive.

However, it was so real

“That's the consequence of seducingin the morning” Elvis left the room in a good mood.

Nola, who paid no attention to Elvis’ smile as he left, didn’t cto her senses until she pinched herself and

realized it wasn’t a dream.

But...

“When did | seduce him?” Nola had no idea what she did.

Her heart began to race again when she recalled what they had done just now.

“Wake up, Nola!” She dashed into the bathroom to clear her mind with cold water. The person reflected in the

mirror in front of Nola seemed surreal. Everything seemed like an illusion to her. It was hard to believe she

actually married Elvis.

She must constantly remind herself of the condition between Elvis and her.

“You have to be sensible, Nola.” she said to herself again. An ordinary girl like Nola could easily lose her bearing

being loved and cherished by a rich, perfect man like Elvis. Nola must remain sensible and not let emotions get

the better of her.

Nola would never let what happened to her mother, Grace, happen to her.

After taking several deep breaths, Nola finally calmed down. She left the bathroom and sat as far as she could

from Elvis.

Elvis knew what she was thinking. He cleared his throat and said, “You should sit here.”

Alisa smiled as she prepared breakfast, pretending not to know anything. Nola understood it wasn’t her place to

refuse Elvis, so she bit the bullet and sat beside him.

It was quiet in the dining room, and out of nowhere, Elvis asked, “If | remember correctly, you are an interior

designer.” Nola paused and nodded quickly. “Yeah, | quit my previous job, and I'm currently looking for a new

one.”

“I know.”

Nola wasn’t sure what he meant.

Elvis must have guessed her plan when he saw Nola’s laptop and draft last night. But Nola had no idea how Elvis

would react to her idea.

“I can go out and work, can’t I?” Nola asked carefully.

“Are you sure?” Elvis knew what was in her mind. He checked the target companies Nola chose last night, and

most of them were private studios or small firms, which were no different from Apex Group Nola used to work.

She should aim high this time.

The Grayson Group was mainly about land development business and had a brilliant design team. It would

benefit Nola a lot if she could work there. Elvis was curious if Nola would ask to join the design department of his

Grayson Group.

“Yes. Can I?” It’s said that a woman would never have a career if she married into a wealthy family. But Nola

couldn't allow herself to be that kind of woman. She wanted a job not for money but for self-actualization.

“It would be okay, right?”

“You won't learn anything if you work for those small firms you selected yesterday. They won't make you a real

designer?

He disapproved of her choice!

Nola was a little upset. She would love to work for a big company, but she had neither a fancy degree nor rich

experience. She had to start small and improve her skills bit by bit.

“The Grayson Group has one of the best design teams”

“Well, yeah. But L... Nola looked at Elvis and suddenly realized something. Elvis, the president of the Grayson

Group, was

her husband.

She wondered what Elvis would say if she wanted to work in the Grayson Group.

Would it be nepotism? A smart man should know how to take advantage of his situation. No one was born a great

designer. All Nola needed was a learning opportunity. She would get better in no time.

However, Nola hesitated.

She was afraid that she was asking too much. She cto the Grayson family alone and didn’t know Elvis well.

still, the latter already did a lot to help her mother. Nola didn’t want Elvis to misinterpret her intention.

“Tellyour plan.”

“If... if a friend of yours wants you to help her to get a job in the Grayson Group’s design department, would you

say yes?”

“I can’t possibly have such a friend.”

“Hypothetically, ok?” Nola was a little frustrated. She must be the most worthless person in his life. Never mind.

She better not speak of it again. Only a spineless woman would degrade herself like this,

But it was a golden opportunity for Nola!

The Grayson Group had everything she had ever imagined, and Miss Garcia, the design director of the Grayson

Group, had won international awards. She was an idol to Nola.

But right now, Nola was disappointed. She couldn't bring herself to ask more from Elvis.

“If you want to work at Grayson Group, just say it.” Elvis glanced at her as he put down his food. It was hard to

believe the timid girl sitting beside Elvis was the sperson who demanded to marry him in the first place.

She looked like a shy kitten.

“You mean it?” Nola’s eyes brightened. She looked up at Elvis inquiringly.

Elvis wanted to reassure Nola but changed his idea, “Well, actually, no.” Elvis cleared his throat and said, “As the

president of the Grayson Group, | must follow the company rules and set an example for my employees, which

means | can’t play favoritism.”

Nola got disappointed again. She slumped on the dining would be an accomplished designer by now.

The Grayson Group has been hiring recently, and the deadline is by the end of the month, Elvis said.

“But | don’t have a recommendation letter. I'm not even qualified to have an interview. Nola said in sullenness

when she saw Elvis get up to leave. The latter gave Nola a meaningful look, making her realize that the

recommendation letter wouldn't be a problem for Elvis. She might have the chance.

“Mr. Grayson, please, | need this. All | ask is to have an interview. I'll take care of the rest. Nola handed over

Elvis enjoyed seeing her like this, but he pretended to be serious, “I'll say yes to you if I'm pleased.”
