Chapter 190

“You’re awake.” Alastor suddenly stood up as he seemed worried about Anastasia.

Anastasia frowned. “What did you just say?”

“I didn’t say anything.” Alastor was a little confused.

Anastasia massaged the spot between her brows, which caused the wound to hurt a little.

“Sorry, I agreed to go get the divorce certificate with you, but I troubled you again,” Anastasia said

hoarsely. “Where’s Jason?”

Alastor’s face darkened. “Anastasia put the divorce aside and take good care of yourself for now.”

Anastasia went silent.

Indeed, she had no strength left to get out of bed and obtain the divorce certificate.

“I went to the police station,” Alastor explained.

“Oh,” Anastasia answered calmly.

“Harold admitted that what you did to your stepmother Meredith and Sienna made him want revenge,

so he wanted to take it out on you on impulse. Harold’s been following you for days to make sure you

didn’t go home,” Alastor said softly. Anastasia could hear a trace of reproach in his words.

It was as if he said, “Look how dangerous it is for you to live alone outside when you’re not at home.”

Anastasia felt like laughing.

After four years of marriage, Alastor came less frequently, where it was only a handful of times.

“What kind of excuse would Alastor make if I was injured at home?” she wondered.

“I told you not to push people into a corner, Anastasia. You’ve crossed the line with Meredith and

Sienna. After all, you’ve lived with them for so many years. If you rush to take them down, you’ll bring

trouble for yourself,” Alastor said deeply. “That’s how society works. Some problems are very realistic.”

Alastor was a realist. From his perspective, all of it could have been avoided.

Anastasia clenched her fingers tightly as she controlled her breathing. Anastasia wanted to prevent her

chest from fluctuating too much, as the wounds would hurt.

“Are you telling me this to clear the suspicions against Felicia? You’re telling me that when I got

stabbed, and my baby didn’t survive, it was all my fault and has nothing to do with Felicia? Do you

really think Harold came to take revenge on me for Meredith and Sienna? Are you sure Felicia didn’t

participate in this?” Anastasia questioned Alastor in a low voice.

Alastor looked at Anastasia. Alastor wanted to comfort, hug, and coax her, but now Anastasia was like

a hedgehog, making him unable to approach.

“I didn’t mean it that way. Anastasia, you always misinterpret me. I really didn’t mean that.” Alastor did

not know how to explain that to Anastasia. “I… I’m not siding with anyone, especially Felicia. I

immediately suspected her coming out for revenge, so I sent someone to investigate her, but the truth

is that she has nothing to do with this.”

Alastor just wanted to answer Anastasia’s question truthfully.

Anastasia turned her gaze away.

It was probably why she could not continue being with Alastor.

They were a married couple, yet one kept trying to shove their opinions down the other’s throat.

They were never from the same level, to begin with, or from the same world.

“Annie, I know this case caused you much suffering. You also know I’m not good at comforting people. I

don’t know what I should do.” Alastor also looked a little tired and helpless.

Maybe he truly had an emotional disorder.

However, sometimes, it was not his intention to make Anastasia misunderstand or upset.

You don’t have to tire yourself, Alastor,” Anastasia whispered.

“Are you hungry?” Alastor asked a question to change the subject.

“I’m not hungry. You can leave now.” Anastasia did not want to see Alastor.

“Annie…” Alastor stood at the bedside, still at a loss.

He did not know how to express himself. When he found out that Anastasia was hurt, he almost went

mad.

“I’m sorry.” In the end, all his explanations merged into a single apology.

“Mr. Lopez, something happened in the company, and we need you to deal with it.” His assistant’s

anxious voice sounded from outside the ward.

Alastor frowned. “What is it that can’t be pushed to tomorrow? Don’t you see I’m busy?”

“Mr. Lopez, it’s… Mr. Christian Lopez has returned, and he has gone to the company,” the assistant

whispered.

Alastor was stunned for a moment, and his body stiffened subconsciously.

Anastasia also frowned as she looked at Alastor.

Christian was Alastor’s father.

He returned and went to the company as soon as possible. Clearly, he did not come back to reminisce

about his father-son relationship with Alastor.

It seemed that Alastor’s company was about to be in turmoil.
