Chapter 195: Chapter 195: The Smug Smile Of His

Serena’s POV~

The moment Aeron’s lips touched my hand, everything insidestopped.

It wasn’t just a polite kiss. It was slow and intentional. The kind that made the air around us grow heavier. His

touch was warm against my skin, but it burned too...like fire pretending to be gentle.

| froze, barely remembering how to breathe. My heart was beating so fast | thought everyone could hear it.

He didn’t look away. Not even for a second.

His eyes were fixed on mine...calm, deep, and so intense that | felt like he was trying to pullinto them. For a

moment, | forgot where | was. The sounds, the lights, the crowd...they all faded until it was just him. Aeron

Duskdraven.

When he finally spoke, his voice was low, smooth, and far too steady for the chaos inside me.

"The princess is looking beautiful tonight."

The words hitharder than they should have. Simple, polite... yet there was something in the way he said it.

Something that made my stomach twist and my chest tighten.

| tried to reply, tried to smile or say thank you, but nothing cout. My lips parted, but no sound followed.

| couldn’t look at him anymore.

| turned my gaze down, hoping he wouldn't notice how my hands were trembling slightly. My skin still felt hot

where his lips had touched. It was ridiculous, but it didn’t feel like one. Not from him.

He knew.

They all knew.

That thought hitsuddenly, like a punch to the chest. They must have recognized me. There was no other

reason they'd all be here tonight, together, out of nowhere.

| forced myself to look up again, just a little, and caught Kael’s face from behind Aeron’s shoulder.

He was smiling.

That sdamn mischievous smile that always madewant to throw something at him.

Of course. Of course it was him.

He must've told them everything. How else could | explain it? How else could all four of them appear at the royal

dinner so suddenly...like they'd planned it, like they wanted to cornerhere in front of everyone?

Why was | even invited to this dinner? | was nothing. A two-day princess that most of them didn’t even care

about. | should've been kept far away from all this.

But no. They were here. And they had found me.

When Aeron finally let go of my hand, | barely had tto breathe before the next one stepped forward.

Luca.

His smile was small, softer than usual, but his eyes... they were full of something else. Something I couldn't

name.

He took my hand carefully, his touch lingering just a second too long before he kissed the back of it.

It wasn’t teasing like before. It wasn’t cruel either. It was quiet, almost... gentle.

But when he lifted his eyes to mine, | froze all over again. There was so much emotion there...anger, sadness,

and something darker too. He looked tired. Worn out. Like he hadn't slept in days.

| had to look away. | couldnt handle it. His gaze was too raw, too full. It made my chest ache.

Then cLucian.

He didn’t say anything at first. Just looked at me, his expression unreadable. Calm, but not cold. His eyes were

sharp, steady, and far too knowing.

When he kissed my hand, it was soft...barely there, but it still sent a shiver through me.

His lips lingered for a heartbeat longer than they should have, and when he finally looked up, there was a faint

smile on his face. A secret one. The kind that made you wonder what he was thinking, but you'd never get the

answer.

| swallowed hard, my throat suddenly dry.

Three of them. One after another.

My heart was pounding so fast it almost hurt. | felt dizzy. It was like the world was spinning too quickly, and |

couldn't catch up.

And then, Kael stepped forward.

Of course, he looked far too pleased with himself. His grin was wide and playful, his grey eyes gleaming with

amusement.

"Princess," he said, his voice smooth and teasing.

| didn’t even get to glare at him before he caught my hand and bowed slightly, pressing a light kiss to my skin.

It was different from the others...less formal, more like a challenge. His lips barely brushed my hand, but his grin

never faded.

When he looked up, his eyes sparkled with mischief.

He knew exactly what he was doing.

| wanted to poke that stupid smile right off his face.

My pulse was still racing. My hands were still warm. And my head was spinning with too many thoughts, too

many feelings.

They were all here.

Aeron, Luca, Lucian, and Kael.

After everything that happened. After all the pain, the silence, the distance—here they were, standing in front of

me, looking atlike they'd never stopped thinking about me.

And I... didn’t know what to do.

All | wanted was to disappear.

| needed to get away.

| stepped back, pretending to fix my dress, pretending to look calm, but all | wanted was to run.

Before | could move, | heard a familiar voice.

"Serena."

It was Valen; finally, he cfor my rescue.

| turned just in tto see him walking toward us. His face was calm and polite as always, but his eyes told a

different story. They were sharp, cold, and full of anger he was clearly trying to hide.

He stopped right beside me, his hand gently but firmly touching my arm as if to pullslightly behind him. His

tone was smooth, but | could feel the tension in it.

"I didn’t expect to see the Alphas here," he said, his polite smile not reaching his eyes. "What a... surprise."

Aeron looked at him once, expression unreadable, and simply nodded. Lucian stayed quiet. Luca’s smirk

returned, lazy and careless, and Kael just chuckled softly, clearly amused.

None of them bothered to reply properly. They didn’t even seem to care that a prince was standing right there.

Vaelen’s smile grew tighter. | could almost hear his patience snapping inside his head.

| bit back a laugh.

It was actually funny...watching the calm and composed Prince Vaelen getting ignored so completely. He was

trying so hard to be civil, but they treated him like he didn’t even exist.

And yet... it was kind of sweet too.

He looked so protective. Like he'd step betweenand them in an instant if he thought | was in danger.

| touched his arm gently. "It's alright," | said softly. "They were just greeting me."

| tried to smile, pretending everything was fine. "It was nothing, Vaelen. Really."

Before | could protest, he took my hand and ledaway. Not harshly, but firmly enough that I didn’t argue.

Once we were far enough from the crowd, he leaned closer, lowering his voice.

"They're not good men," he muttered under his breath. "Stay away from them."

| blinked at him, surprised by how serious he sounded. "Vaelen..."

"I mean it," he cut in. "They're brutes, Serena. Dangerous. | don’t like the way they look at you."

His expression softened a little, but

his voice was still tight. "If you WRAL.

For a second, | just stared at him. Then | couldn't help it... | laughed.

The look on his face was priceless. He looked half embarrassed, half offended, like he didn’t expectto find his

offer funny.

"Vaelen," | said between small laughs, "you sound like a worried old brother."

He frowned slightly, his ears turning a faint shade of red. "I'm serious," he muttered. "You deserve someone

good. Not... them."

I smiled at him, softer this time. "I know. But you don’t have to worry. There's nothing like that between us."

His gaze lingered on me, eyes narrowing just a little. "Don’t lie to me, Serena."

The way he said it made my breath catch for a moment. His voice wasn’t angry...it was quiet, full of concern.

| looked away, trying to hide the strange mix of guilt and confusion rising inside me.

He sighed softly, still watching me. "Just... be careful, alright?"

| nodded, forcing a small smile. "I will."

But as we walked away towards the table, | could still feel those four gazes on my back...hot, heavy, and

unrelenting.

And no matter how much | told myself it was fine, | felt like they were waiting for the moment to pounce on

me...like predators.
