Chapter 837 Paternity Test Panic Mode

Manny froze. A paternity test? What the heck was that supposed to mean?

Artemis drew in a sharp breath; her tone was heavy with frustration. “Your father wants to do a paternity test

with your two sisters. When he gets back this afternoon, he’s taking them in for

ie.”

Manny fell silent.

“Think of something,” Artemis urged.

“Think of something? Wait-"

Manny's thoughts tangled; something flashed through his mind. He looked at Artemis, his voice shaking.

“You mean... Lina and Lana aren’t...?"”

His mind went completely blank.

Artemis didn’t answer.

Manny nearly lost it. “How could you do something like that?”

When he'd first found out he wasn’t his father’s biological son, it had already been a huge shock. But now-now

she was saying his sisters weren't either...

“Mother, you!”

Faced with Manny's sudden disappointment, Artemis grew irritated. “Ugh, this isn’t the tto talk about that!”

“Your father cannot take that test with them; if he does, we're finished!”

Manny went silent. Finished...

She was right-once that test was done, they'd all be ruined.

“It’s all Tessa’s fault!” Artemis hissed. “I already promised her I'd go back to Black Mountain, and she still

stabbedin the back!”

“Tessa?”

“Yes, her! She’s the one who egged your father on. When | get the chance, she'll regret it for the

rest of her life.”

Artemis’ voice dripped with venom; she wanted nothing more than to tear Tessa apart.

At that very moment, Tessa sneezed in Victor's arms. He quickly tugged the blanket up around her shoulders.

She'd been running a fever all night, and since going to a hospital up in Echo Peak was such a hassle, Victor had

driven her hovernight.

Luckily, her temperature had stabilized once they got back-must’ve been the cold mountain air that made it

worse. They'd slept in late.

Tessa wriggled under the covers, rubbing her nose. “Can you not holdso tight?” she mumbled.

Victor lifted a brow.

“It’s too hot!” she complained, pouting.

He really was warm, she’d be grateful for it; but the room wasn’t cold now, and being wrapped up in his arms

under the blanket was suffocating.

Victor chuckled. “Funny, you were the one beggingto hold you last night; now you're complaining?”

“It’s hot,” Tessa grumbled.

It really was. She was drenched in sweat, but Victor didn’t seem to care; he kept holding her close.

His warm palm cto rest on her forehead.

Feeling her temperature back to normal, he finally let her go. “Go take a shower; I'll get you sbreakfast

after.”

Tessa nodded and threw back the blanket, but as soon as her feet hit the floor, her knees gave out. The world

spun, and before she hit the ground, a strong hand caught her by the waist and pulled her back into Victor's

chest.

His breath brushed against her ear, low and teasing. “Legs giving out already? | didn’t even do anything last

night.”

Tessa sniffed and huffed, “Having a fever feels like running a marathon; my legs are jelly!”

In the end, Victor helped her into the bathroom to wash up.

When they cout dressed, Silas was waiting outside while the maids set the breakfast table. Soft porridge

and light side dishes-simple food suited for someone recovering from an

illness.

Seeing them, Silas stepped forward. “Hey, Dale’s here.”
