“Andrew, prep covering fire,” Lucas said quietly into his earpiece, his tone sharp and cold.
“Got it,” Andrew’s voice crackled back through the line. Seconds later, a sudden barrage of gunfire erupted from
the other side of the woods.
Andrew and his team unleashed a fierce assault on the assassins’ right flank, instantly throwing their formation
into chaos.
“Now!” Lucas growled, yanking Sloane with him as they bolted toward the weakened left side.
The assassins, distracted by Andrew's offensive, left the left flank vulnerable. Lucas and Sloane seized the
opportunity, breaking through the encirclement in a flash. Their figures weaved swiftly through the trees, and by

“Shit, they went left!” the gruff man’s furious roar echoed from behind, tinged with madness. “Group A, stay
here and keep them tied down! Group B, with me—we’re going after them!”
The assassins quickly split into two squads-one continued exchanging fire with Andrew, while the other took off

Ahead of them loomed a steep cliff.
“There's no way out...” Sloane’s heart sank as she stared at the sheer drop before them.
Lucas’s face hardened. He scanned their surroundings quickly, but the sound of footsteps closing in was
unmistakable.
The assassin leader's voice rang out across the night air, dark and twisted. “You're not getting away! Be smart

Lucas pushed down her gun and shook his head. “No. We still have one way out.”
The assassin leader and his team arrived just in tto see Lucas and Sloane leap off the cliff.
Lucas wrapped his arm tightly around Sloane’s waist and jumped without hesitation. Their bodies arced through
the air, then vanished into the darkness below.
The assassins rushed to the edge, only to watch the pair disappear into the night. The gruff man slammed a fist
against a nearby rock in fury. “Goddammit! Get down there and search! | want them dead or alive!”
But below the cliff lay a thick forest, and in the darkness, there was no sign of either of them. The assassins
exchanged glances; none of them eager to take the risk.
“Boss, that cliff’s way too high-they couldn't have survived the fall,” one assassin said cautiously.
A ruthless gleam flashed in the gruff man’s eyes. “Circle around and search the bottom. We cannot let them get
away.”
He could see their hesitation and said coldly, “That man is Lucas from
Stonebridge. You all know what he’s capable of. If he gets out of this alive, none of us, not even the entire
organization, will be safe.”
The moment he finished speaking, the color drained from their faces. One by one, they turned to find a way
down the cliff.
Below, a violent river surged through the gorge; the water was ice cold and unforgiving. The instant they hit the
surface, Lucas wrapped Sloane in his arms, shielding her with his body as they plunged into the current.
The river swallowed them instantly. The crushing force of the water nearly knocked the air from Lucas’s lungs.
Gritting his teeth, he fought to reach the
surface.
