"Where are you now?" Brandon asked. "I'll be there soon."
"I'm at home," Sophia replied softly.
"Alright, I'm heading back now. Just stay put and don’t go anywhere," Brandon said.
"Okay," Sophia murmured. "I'll wait for you."
"Good."
Brandon ended the call with a brief response. As the light ahead turned green, he gripped the steering wheel, making a sharp turn
and heading back the way he came.

Sophia stood there, phone still pressed to her ear even though the call had ended. Her lips were pursed, and she seemed reluctant

Kent watched her anxiously. "Well? What did Mr. Crawley say?"
"He'sing back now," Sophia answered.
Kent let out a relieved breath. "I knew it. When you step in, nothing can stop Mr. Crawley."
Sophia managed a faint smile but didn’t respond.
"I'll drive you both home," Kent offered as he scooped Theresa into his arms and headed toward his car parked nearby.
Sophia nodded and followed him in.
"Don’t mention to him that | told you about the port transfer. No need for him to make things awkward for you," Sophia whispered
to Kent once they were inside the car.
Kent shot her a quick smile over his shoulder. "That won't happen. Mr. Crawley may talk tough, but he’s got a soft spot. He never
gives his staff a hard tfor no reason—especially when ites to important matters."
Except, of course, when it involved Sophia.
That last part he kept to himself, not wanting to make her worry.
"But don't worry, | won't say a word to Mr. Crawley," Kent said with a grin.
Brandon wouldn't actually make trouble for him, but just to be safe, Kent was perfectly happy letting Sophia take the lead.
Sophia nodded. "I'll handle this. You don’t have to worry."
"Alright," Kent agreed enthusiastically, though he still couldnt help his concern. "But how are you going to deal with this? Harvey
Ferber isn’t going to let the port slip away. Today you managed to call Mr. Crawley back, but you can’t keep him hevery day."
"I'll figure something out. Just act like you don’t know anything about any of this," Sophia reassured him.
With her promise, Kent finally relaxed.
"Then I'll leave it to you, Ms. Yearwood," he said with a smile.
"I should be the one thanking you," Sophia replied quietly. "If Brandon lost the port because of me, I'd never ive myself. I'd
always feel indebted to him."
