Chapter 1094
Three days later, Thalassa was discharged from the hospital. She headed to the office, feeling guilty for
having missed several days of work.
Ethan hummed a tune while passed by the secretary’s office on his way to his own workspace.
Suddenly, he stopped, doubled back, and leaned against the door frame, eyes wide with surprise as he
spotted Thalassa inside. “Well, I’ll be damned, Thalassa, you’re actually back at work?”
At the sound of his voice, Thalassa turned to see Ethan with an astonished look on his face. She
sheepishly said, “I skipped work for four days, Mr. Ethan. Feel free to deduct whatever amount from my
salary, no need to hold back.”
Ethan chuckled as he sauntered in, casually crossing his arms over his chest. He leaned back against
her desk and looked at her, “You call that skipping work? More like sending me on a roller coaster of
emotions.”
Thalassa’s sudden disappearance with her children and the global manhunt initiated by Lysander had
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtscared the daylights out of Ethan. If she hadn’t been found, Lysander would’ve come knocking,
demanding answers from him. As her employer, it was his responsibility to keep track of her
whereabouts.
If Lysander had set his sights on Ethan for answers, he might’ve ended up like David, who had
somehow crossed Lysander and got shipped off to Afriland. Just the thought made Ethan shudder;
David’s month-long ordeal in Afriland was an unforgettable experience given the merciless conditions.
Ethan was well aware of the consequences of crossing Lysander-consequences that remained
unknown yet all the more threatening.
Hearing the implications in Ethan’s words, Thalassa understood the extent of Lysander’s influence and
domination. If she had truly managed to escape, Ethan and everyone else connected to her would
have been dragged into the mire.
With a tinge of regret, Thalassa said, “I’m sorry, Ethan. Next time I plan on running away, I’ll make sure
to resign first.”
Ethan nearly lost it, straightening up with a mix of horror and humor in his wide-open eyes. “You think
there will be a next time? Aren’t you scared that your dear Lysander will just lock down the entire world
in response?”
Thalassa believed Lysander had the means to do that. With more than one private jet at his disposal
and an entire airport of airlines under his thumb, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do.
During her hospital stay, as she lay in bed reflecting, she had an epiphany regarding a question that
had been bothering her. She had wondered how Lysander pinpointed their

flight to Weston Country, especially when Atticus had deleted all surveillance footage of their route to
the airport, and Callum’s friend had gotten them on the plane without leaving a trace. It hit her one
night-the overly enthusiastic stewardess on the plane who had asked about her quadruplets.
Lysander must have instructed major airlines to keep an eye out for passengers, with the key detail
being quadruplets. A sighting of quadruplets on a flight would lead straight to her and her children.
After all, the odds of quadruplets appearing on a flight on that particular night were slim to none. Once

Seeing Ethan’s mix of shock and relief, Thalassa offered a smile, though only she understood the
bitterness and self-deprecation hidden within it.
“When did Lysander become ‘my dear’, Ethan?” she quipped lightly.
“He’s the father of your children, if not yours, whose else could he be?” Ethan replied matter-of-factly.
Thalassa’s smile lingered, though it did not reach her eyes. “You’re from the same elite circles, Ethan.
How many heirs have children with women outside their social sphere yet share their lives with
someone else? Not to mention the countless ordinary folks who have children together yet lead
separate lives.”
“Lysander is not like those playboys,” Ethan stated without a second thought.
“And how is he different?” Thalassa challenged.
“You’ve been by Lysander’s side for so long; haven’t you noticed anything different about him? Have
you ever seen any other woman near him?” Ethan countered.
As Lysander’s friend, Ethan was convinced of his loyalty and integrity; Lysander wasn’t the type to love
lightly.
