573 “And I will help you cover up the crime.”

“Raising him. I did a pretty decent job raising him,” she said and Yeoh Jun couldn’t agree more.

As parents they all want their kids to grow up healthy and great. They also want them to grow up and achieve great things but for Zi Xingxi it wasn’t the achievements she cared about but her son’s happiness.

She wanted her son to be happy. Whether he found happiness in love or happiness in his career it didn’t really matter. As a mother, she couldn’t help but feel very content seeing her son happy. She wished he would remain like this and be even happier in the future.

“Yes you did,” said Yeoh Jun while draping his arm around Zi Xingxi’s shoulders. He reached out and touched his wife’s lips pretending to remove something when in fact he was just stealing some tofu.

“He is happy and healthy. He is also a good person with a big heart,” said Yeoh Jun commending his wife for doing a great job. He wished he had been there for the both of them but unfortunately fate said otherwise.

Yeoh Jun kissed Zi Xingxi’s shoulder and pulled her closer. “He seems very happy with Yi Chen. I think I trust him enough with Zi Han,” said Yeoh Jun and Zi Xingxi nodded her head.

“I trust him too. But if he does screw up I won’t hold back,” she said and Yeoh Jun chuckled softly before saying,

“And I will help you cover up the crime.”

The pair of them laughed sending shivers down Yi Chen’s spine. He could sense some maliciousness towards him but he couldn’t tell where it was coming from. If he only knew that his in-laws were plotting his death if he ever hurt Zi Han, he would have reassured them that he harboured no such intentions.

.....

After a hearty meal, some gathered outside watching the starry night chatting and laughing while sharing some gossip. They were so immersed in their conversation that they didn’t notice that some individuals had been missing for a long time.

When they finally did notice that Yi Zhen and the others weren’t back yet it was already an hour or so later. “I thought he said he was going to the bathroom?” said Lin Ruoxi recalling how her husband said he would be right back.

“Yeoh Jun isn’t here either,” replied Zi Xingxi before taking a sip of her red wine.

Zi Han massaged little Nim Nim’s back with his fingertips while saying, “He probably fell into the toilet.”

“Or maybe he went to my man cave to decompress. You ladies had them running around today so they might not be used to it,” said grandpa Lin when a bottle cap from his beer accurately landed on his face.

Grandma Lin who had flicked the bottle cap at him gave him a glare that sent shivers all over his body. As the fourth in command in the henpecked husband association he shut his mouth obediently.

Two sips in and he almost spit out a mouthful. “Oh my god,” said Zi Feiji his eyes wide as light bulbs. Why? It was because the so-called missing persons had finally shown up and they were dressed in mascot suits of exotic animals protected by the conservation law of the federation.

The reason why they were even mascot suits here, was because Lin Ruoxi and her brother had been at the forefront of stopping the senseless slaughter of animals that were getting extinct due to hunting for a sport or unproven medicine.

They were pioneers for this cause and help changed things forever but the mascot suits remained in the basement unused for decades.

Who would have thought they would be put to use again after losing a water balloon fight? Zi Xingxi couldn’t help but laugh watching the cute feel with a big head shaking its tooshie.

A feziel was a cat like creature with two pink stripe lines going down its back and spikes on its spine. There were also two fishu mascots with two different colours. It was like a blend of a fish and a frog. The last one was a cute crozad that looked like a combination of a colourful bird and mouse. Ming Ming was dressed in a pink tutu with a heavy mental style get up but with a splash of pink.

She had a pink bolt of lightning drawn down the left side of her face and a karaoke mic in her hand.

This was the show they prepared and because they couldn’t sing Ming Ming suggested this. She, of course, chose a song by the kao boy band for them to sing.

Boisterous laughter erupted to the point of tears and rolling on the floor. This was just too funny for them especially when the mascots bounced around cluelessly.

Ming Ming raised her hand asking them to settle down and they respectfully tried their best to settle down.

“Okay, so today we are going to perform first light by my favourite boy band. My backup singers aren’t that good so don’t have high expectations,” she said and Yi Youxi couldn’t help but blurt out,

“You are enjoying this, aren’t you?”

“Yes yes, I am. Like a lot,” she answered honestly. How many girls in this world could say I had my dad, brother, uncles and brother in law dress like anything even a princess? She got all four of them dressed like cute mascots and made them lip-synch her favourite song.

This day will forever be a treasured memory for her. “Which one is which? I can’t tell which of you is the mighty emperor of the Onyx federation,” said Zi Feiji his cheeks hurting from his laughter.

“Or the former Marshal of the interplanetary army. This is gold,” said Lin Ruoxi while taking a video.

“You can guess after the performance. We can make a game out of it,” said grandma Lin and Zi Han pulled up his betting app so people could place bets.

“Let’s make it more interesting by involving some petty cash. Whoever guesses all of them right gets to keep the star coins,” he said and grandpa Lin’s eyes widened. He was about to say something when he saw Zi Feiji swipe up his light brain.

“I am in. Grandpa wants a new hovercar, let’s go.”

Grandpa Lin, “...”
