Chapter 141

Eloise was feeling down.

"I'm going to downstairs for a bit," she whispered.

Harvey just watched her silently. After a moment, he muttered, "Eloise, I'm sorry."

Harvey averted his eyes and lit a cigarette.

About 20 minutes later, a delicious smell wafted from the kitchen. One whiff and anyone would know it was

Eloise's handiwork.

Harvey stubbed out his cigarette and headed for the dining room.

Eloise served him a bowl! of pasta.

Just as she was about to leave, he grabbed her hand, "Stay with me."

Eloise shook her head, her voice stern, "Harvey, | wouldn't be here if you weren't injured!"

She seemed calm, perhaps because of all the tears she'd shed at night. So when facing him, she seemed numb,

the pain not as intense.

Harvey's gaze becblurry.

He didn't force her, but without her by his side, he had no appetite and quickly finished his meal.

Eloise fetched a blanket from the guest room.

Pointing to the couch, she said, "I'll sleep here tonight."

Harvey looked at her intently, "You can sleep in the master bedroom! We've slept together before, and | won't do

anything!"

But Eloise didn't trust him so easily.

She knew Harvey's desires ran deep, and if they lay together, he'd definitely lose control. Besides, they were

over so there was no need for further entanglement.

She calmly rejected him, "It's better if we keep our distance."

At this point, Eloise was genuinely exhausted. She wrapped herself in the blanket and soon fell asleep on the

couch.

He walked into the bedroom, fetched a duvet and threw it over her. Although Eloise didn't wake up, she

instinctively pulled the duvet tighter. Her body looked especially frail.

Harvey thought about the alcohol she'd consumed that night and felt a pang of guilt.

Did he make her life too miserable?

Would she rather accompany someone else for a drink, chasing a chance that might not even be there?

Harvey walked into the study and made a call.

The person on the other end was Vanessa.

Vanessa was polite but a bit distant, "Attorney Horigan, what can | do for you at this hour?"

Harvey held the phone, his voice especially cold in the night.

"Ms. Vanessa, are you in need of students?"

"Of course! We always are!"

Harvey said calmly, "I'll be introducing a student tomorrow. Let Ms. Laurent teach her."

Vanessa was a bit surprised and intentionally asked.

"Is she your child?"

Harvey chuckled lightly, "Ms. Vanessa, have you ever seen Eloise pregnant? It's just a relative."

Vanessa thought to herself, what a cheeky bastard!

He looked so proper in magazines and newspapers, but he's such a libertine in private!

But regardless, no one would reject money. Vanessa proceeded to inquire about Eloise's situation.

Harvey gave a vague response. "Eloise is asleep from exhaustion."

The following morning.

When Eloise woke up, Harvey was already up and about.

His wound seemed to have healed. He sat in the dining room, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper.

He was dressed in a dark grey shirt, paired with a dark slim tie.

He's just as handsas usual.

Eloise was a bit surprised.

Harvey looked at her and softly said, "You're missing a button on your blouse."

Eloise looked down. Her light champagne colored blouse was missing the third button.

Because she was sitting, the blouse naturally fell open, revealing a bit of her cleavage.

Eloise quickly drew her blouse shut.

She searched around the couch for a while but couldn't find the missing button.

"Go change in the dressing room. Your clothes are still there," Harvey said nonchalantly.

Eloise remained silent.

Each of those expensive clothes he'd bought for her cost a fortune. Now that they

were separated, she had no reason to accept them.

Just like the piano, even though she loved it, she had no desire to play it anymore.

Eloise muttered, "I'll use the guest room."

She had lived here before and knew where the sewing kit was. She moved a

button from her blouse to cover the exposed area.

Eloise didn't freshen up there, and she just wiped her face.

When she cout, she looked at Harvey.

"Attorney Horigan, you seem fine now. | should get going."

Harvey put down his newspaper. He watched her silently, "At least have breakfast before you go."

Eloise gave a small smile. "That wouldn't be appropriate," she said.

Her reluctance was apparent. She wanted to draw the line with Harvey. He didn't know how others managed to

win back their girlfriends, but he had a feeling: Eloise was way more difficult than the average girl!

He watched her, deep in thought.

The atmosphere was a bit awkward. Eloise bent over slightly and said, "Attorney Horigan, thank you for

continuing to represent my father. I'm very grateful."

Harvey felt uneasy.

Eloise's attitude towards him was like a commoner dealing with a socialite, but they'd shared the most beautiful

moments in this apartment. Their lives and bodies were in perfect harmony.

He was a bit angry.

Picking up the newspaper, he said dismissively, "Whatever."

Eloise quickly left.

She took a cab back to her apartment, took a shower, and changed her clothes.

She had breakfast in the car.

When she arrived at Encore Soundworks, Vanessa apologized profusely, "| just can't deal with that guy from last

night."

Eloise didn't blher.

"We had to clear things up anyway," she said softly.

Vanessa showed Eloise the contract Mr. Jones had signed. She praised her, "Eloise, you were amazing last night.

Mr. Jones is notoriously difficult, but you won him over in no time."

Eloise just smiled.

She knew very well that Harvey's appearance last night was a turning point, giving her the opportunity to win

over Mr. Jones.

She didn't want to talk about Harvey, so she kept quiet.

But Vanessa dropped a bombshell on her, "Last night, that guy called me, said srelative's kid wanted to

learn piano, and specifically asked for you to teach. Eloise, have you heard anything about skid in the

Horigan family? Or is this just ssecret kid of Harvey's that he's trying to cover up?"

Eloise mulled it over.

It wouldn't be weird for the Horigan family to have a kid from srelative, but those Harvey would specifically

care about shouldn't be many.

Eloise drew a blank.

With a calm wave of her hand, Vanessa said, "We'll know when they get here."

Then, recalling something Harvey had said, Vanessa asked curiously, "Eloise, last night, did you guys?"

Eloise was in the middle of drinking mineral water.

She suddenly sprayed it out of her mouth.

Tears in her eyes, she glared at Vanessa, her face flushed with embarrassment

and anger.

Shrugging, Vanessa said, "He toldon the phone you fell asleep because you were tired, | naturally thought."

Besides, Harvey looked so frustrated last night!

Wiping her clothes, Eloise said softly, "No, he was just a bit injured, and | helped

him bandage it. It's over between us, and there won't be anything in the future."

Vanessa looked a bit disappointed.

With Attorney Horigan's physique, good looks, and those eyes full of intense attraction, what woman could resist

him?

Just as Vanessa was lost in her daydream, the phone rang.

"Ms. Laurent, Attorney Horigan's family is here, and they said they wanted to sign

up for your course."
