Chapter 140

Harvey watched her.

Eloise was clearly drunk, her eyes filled with obvious pain.

His heart ached as if it had been punched. Did she care for him that much? Was that why she was in such pain?

Harvey gently traced her lips, his voice full of tenderness, "Can't we make up, just like before?"

Eloise lowered her eyelids, her long lashes trembling incessantly. "Harvey, | don't need you."

Harvey's grip tightened, his knuckles turning white. Suddenly, he unbuckled her seatbelt, got out of the car, and

picked her up.

The night wind blew.

Eloise sobered up slightly, realizing that he had driven her to his apartment. "Harvey, | want to go home."

She began to struggle in his arms, her long, slender legs kicking randomly, oblivious to the fact that she might

hurt him. Harvey grunted, as if she had hit a sensitive spot.

Not even waiting until they reached the building, he pressed her against the wall in front of the elevator.

Their bodies were close together. Even though Eloise was drunk, she didn't dare to move. She knew that men

were easily aroused at such times. She glared at him, "Harvey, are you trying to force me?"

Harvey didn't know how to handle the situation. He had never seen such a difficult-to-soothe girl.

These days, he had considered giving up. But he had tasted her sweetness.

He wanted to let go, but he couldn't.

"How could | bear to let you go?" His nose brushed her cheek lightly, his body pressing closer to hers, skillfully

teasing her.

He knew exactly what kind of teasing she liked.

Eloise was both embarrassed and angry. She turned her head, "Mr. Horigan, you should behave yourself."

Harvey looked at her profile, her skin glowing with a bit of blush, her eyes moist and bright. He hadn't seen her

in a few days, and only now did he realize how much he had missed her.

Harvey was always good at self-control. He wouldn't mess around with a woman in front of an elevator. But now,

he couldn't resist.

He wanted to kiss her.

Eloise's chin was held in his grip, her body pinned against the wall. Harvey kissed her deeply, leaving her

gasping for air.

Eloise struggled fiercely. She didn't want this, she didn't.

She struggled violently, without any regard. Her slender fingers touched something hard above, a painting.

Without thinking, Eloise pulled the painting off the wall and smashed it onto Harvey's head.

The painting wasn't heavy, but the frwas made of sharp metal. It cut through his forehead in an instant.

Blood was pouring out. Harvey didn't care about the wound on his forehead, only holding Eloise tightly, his gazes

intense. His eyes were still filled with desire.

Eloise sobered up from the shock.

The "weapon" in her hand fell to the ground, and she began to fear his retaliation, mumbling, "I didn't mean to."

Harvey didn't say a word.

Eloise bit her lip, "I'll take you to the hospital."

"No need, | can bandage it at home."

"Harvey, you should go to the hospital!"

Harvey's gaze was dark. His fingers gently traced her cheek, "Eloise, are you afraid to go in with me? Are you

scared of the familiar scene or afraid that | might do something to you again? Don't worry, in my current state, |

can't do anything."

Eloise seemed hesitant.

He let her go, looking calm. "Assault with the intent to cause bodily harm, at least a year in jail."

Eloise was furious. He was so despicable.

Harvey wiped the blood off his face, smiling, "Or you want to tell the judge that | acted inappropriately, that |

wanted to sleep with you, so you had to hurt me?"

Eloise's face was tense. After a moment, she pressed the elevator button, a silent compromise.

Harvey held a tissue to his wound and entered the elevator with her. As the elevator started to ascend, he

suddenly said, "Eloise, | don't regret it."

Eloise ignored him. She looked straight ahead, focusing on the red numbers, "Harvey, this won't change

anything."

She had made up her mind and wouldn't change it easily.

Harvey didn't say anything more.

They reached his apartment.

Harvey sat on the couch, his tall figure seeming heavy after the injury. Eloise quietly took out a first aid kit and

placed it in front of him. "Can you bandage the wound yourself?"

Harvey looked up, staring at her expressionless face for a long moment before speaking, "I've lost so much

blood, don't you feel sorry forat all?"

Eloise just smiled. She didn't say anything, just took out sdisinfectant, gauze, and ointment from the first

aid kit.

His wound was on his forehead, about the size of a coin. Luckily, the wound wasn't deep.

Eloise took a cotton swab, soaked it in alcohol, and gently applied it to his wound.

Harvey winced in pain, his throat bobbing, but he didn't cry out. It would be too embarrassing for a man to cry

out in pain. He only made uncontrollable sound when they were intimate, and every tEloise heard them, she

on.

Perhaps thinking of this, Harvey's gaze darkened. He gently held her hand, his voice hoarse, "Eloise, we've made

love on this couch."

Eloise didn't consider his feelings. She said coolly, "You can bring other women here in the future. Not just the

couch. There are plenty of other places for Attorney Horigan to add sthrill."

He frowned, "I've never brought anyone else home."

Eloise just smiled. He probably hadn't brought any women home. The apartment

was clean except for the places where Eloise had stayed.

But there was a place in Harvey's heart. On that lonely island, there was only Joan.

Eloise didn't say anything more. After all, they had broken up, and saying these things wouldn't make any

difference. She bandaged his wound and said, "If the wound gets infected tomorrow, you'll have to go to the

hospital."

She washed her hands, ready to leave, but Harvey grabbed her arm. "Don't go." He hugged her from behind,

"Eloise, stay with me."

Eloise stiffened slightly. She gently shrugged him off, "Harvey, I've made it clear that we are over."

"I'm hungry, makesfood."

Eloise took out her phone, "I'll order takeout for you."

Harvey knocked her phone away, "You're ordering takeout for an injured man? I'm not even sure about the

condition of my head, and something could go wrong tonight, Ms. Laurent. If anything happens to me, you can't

escape responsibility." Just more of his male tricks. Eloise understood his game, but at the stime, she knew

part of what he said was right.

She didn't want to take care of him anymore. But what if he was exaggerating his condition, making a small

injury sound serious, and trying to pin the blon her, what should she do?

This thought made Eloise hesitate, and she gave up on insisting on leaving. She picked up her phone, switched

to camera mode, and took a picture of Harvey. "What are you doing?"

"Just taking a picture as evidence in case of any disputes later on."

Harvey was left speechless by her action.

Eloise put away her phone and murmured, "Whatever happens tonight, it doesn't mean anything."

He didn't respond, just walked to the balcony and stared at the night view of Peterborough.

Eloise looked at his back, at the piano, her eyes filled with a faint sadness. She

had once felt an immense sense of happiness because of him, and she had been deeply pampered by him.

But in the end, it was just pampering, not love.

Harvey turned around and saw the lingering melancholy in Eloise's eyes.
