Chapter 137 Heavy Metal Contamination I didn't turn away until I saw Jeremiah being escorted out. After instructing the security downstairs to never let him in again, I finally entered the studio.

Levi spottedwhen I walked in and immediately cover, concern written all over his face. "Jane, what happened? You don't look so good." I quickly covered my face after snapping out of my thoughts. "It's nothing. I got up too early this morning. I just need a moment to shake it off." With that, I headed straight into my office, keeping my thoughts to myself.

Jeremiah's attitude and reaction earlier kept nagging at me. I couldn't shake the feeling that he had something to do with the sudden trouble with our online store.

He had leftwith a warning the last twe met. He said to just wait and see. Maybe he had just been bluffing, but I couldn't afford to take any chances. Still, I couldn't tell Levi about this. He had a bold, impulsive nature, and if he found out, there was no telling what he might do.

He could very well march up to Jeremiah and demand answers, which would only tip Jeremiah off and cut off any chance of tracing the real culprit.

With that in mind, I pulled out my phone and dialed the private investigator. Once I ended the call, I looked for Levi to check if he had made any progress last night.

Stepping into the conference room, I found him seated at the table with a thick stack of documents in front of him. Next to the papers sat a small box.

"What's this?" I asked, taking a seat and reaching for the documents.

The testing lab worked fast, and the results were sent back overnight. The report confirmed the fabric used in our clothing was heavily contaminated with harmful heavy metals.

These toxic residues could penetrate the skin through prolonged exposure. At best, they would cause persistent itching. At worst, they could trigger severe allergic reactions. And if someone were to wear the clothing for too long, their skin could start to break down.

My head snapped up, and I locked eyes with Levi.

Levi caught the shock in my eyes and flipped open the small box. Inside was a square-shaped device. He took it out, powered it on, and grabbed a returned dress from the pile beside him.

As soon as he placed the device against the fabric, a red light flashed, and a sharp beeping sound filled the room. A few seconds later, a string of numbers appeared on the screen.

"The testing lab toldthat any reading below ten is considered safe," Levi explained. "But this dress is hundreds of times over the limit." His words sent a chill down my spine.

Using something this malicious to sabotage our brand... If we hadn't acted fast and recalled the items in time, didn't even want to think about what could've happened. The guilt would've crushed me.

"I brought back samples of packaging materials from the warehouse, but none of them tested positive for heavy metals," Levi continued.

I nodded. "Then that rules out the packaging as the source." This meant the problem had to be somewhere between the fabric supplier and the garment factory. Since we only had one testing device, Levi and I had no choice but QUMS to head to the factory together.

He had already informed the manufacturer about our visit.

The moment we arrived, we saw the e factory owner, Byron Knox, waiting for us at the entrance. As se spotted us, he strode over with an expression full of concern.

"This heavy metal contamination... It's serious, right? Will it affect our production line?" he asked anxiously.

That one sentence toldhe had no idea about the contamination.

That left only two possibilities-either the issue was with the fabric supplier or someone inside Byron's factory sabotaged us. Inside, the factory floor was eerily empty. Production had been halted for the day because of our investigation.

Levi wasted no time. He moved methodically through the spacem color the Spa scanning every corner with the device while I recorded the readings in a notebook.

Byron stood to the side, watching tensely, his eyes darting between us and the numbers as if afraid to miss a single detail. Hours passed before Levi finally set the device down.
