Dylan had thought that the day was over, but Ethan took out his phone and gave Jordan a call.
"Father."
Jordan had recently begun seeing guests and was now playing a gof chess with Theodore, the man who
called the shots in the Yule family.
"What's up?"
"I saw Dylan on the street. He's hurt, and | sent him to the hospital."
Jordan's hand, which was holding a chess piece, paused, his tone calm. "Is it serious?"
"Not really, but I think he's unable to attend tomorrow's dinner."
Dylan sat beside Ethan, watching him lie through his teeth.
Jordan had the most authority in the Henderson family. Nobody in the family dared lie to him. But when Ethan
said all that, he didn't even blink.
"Good, good. As long as he's okay."

After hanging up, Ethan looked toward Dylan. "Take a break for two months. Don't show up at the office."
Hearing this, Dylan struggled to get up, his face flushed. "What? Why?"
The Henderson family's Christmas celebration wasn't just a superficial dinner party. All family members had to
report on the tasks they had completed. If they gained Jordan's attention, he might directly invest in their
ventures. If they were successful, they would receive more shares in the Henderson family.
Dylan had just returned hthis year, and his foreign branch had made great breakthroughs abroad. Jordan
had told him early on that he was going to take extra notice on his report.
Now that he couldn't attend, where would he have the guts to show his face to Jordan after this?
Ethan chuckled and straightened his sleeves. "Because you overestimated yourself."
Dylan's face turned pale in an instant, and he clenched his fists. His whole body was trembling with humiliation.
When Ethan left, he heard Tim asking him, "What if we push him too far?"
Looking out the window, Ethan noticed that the wind was howling outside. "Then we'll make sure he never
speaks again."
Tim kept quiet.
When Ethan was getting into the car, he started coughing and took the medication in the car.
Tim passed him a bottle of water. "The doctor said this medicine should be taken in moderation. Don't increase
the dosage unless you can't stand it anymore."
Ethan paused before raising his hand to massage his temples.
The side effects of this medication would sometimes manifest physically, but he had no choice he didn't take the
medication he wouldn't be able to sleep. s
Tim was in the driver's seat. He glanced at the rear-view mirror and comforted him, saying, "Grace-
know how to return favors. Singe. youve helped her, you should invite her to Palm Bay." s
Ethan looked at the receding street outside, his hand tightly gripping the bottle of medication. He smiled bitterly.
"With what reason?"
He had to rack his brains to think of a reason just to maintain a connection with her. Moreover, he was needed to
manage the Henderson family.
He lowered his gaze and looked at his phone.
Meanwhile, Jordan placed the last chess piece onto the board, a smile appearing on his face.
"Checkmate. Theodore, you're still one step behind."
Theodore was elegant, the complete opposite of the charismatic Jordan. Sighing, he picked up his tea and took a
sip.
"Well, old hands know best. After
playing for so many years, I'm still not as good as you. Even the younger generation in my family isn't as
outstanding as the children you've nurtured. Now that Ethan is managing the family so well, | think his next
move should be to give you a grandchild." s
Jordan knew he had something to say, so he slowly put the chess set away. "Ethan's mind isn't on that right now,
and | can't force him."
"Jordan, | once thought Ethan was still hung up on Lillian, but it seems Ethan is getting too close to Grace..."
Lillian Yule. She was the one who was kidnapped and murdered seven years ago. Everyone knew that she was
accidentally killed because of Grace.
Lillian and Grace had a pretty close relationship back then. But because of her text, Lillian was kidnapped and
later murdered.
But the Yule family couldn't pin the cron Grace with the evidence they found
or everyone would think they were just using their power to bully her.
A prestigious family like theirs couldn't lose their dignity in such a manner.
