Liam grabbed Andrea by the arm and shoved her out the bedroom door. "Get the hell out. I'm not arguing with

you right now."

His glare shook her to her core, and she swallowed hard. "Liam, what did | do wrong? She's manipulating you.

She wants to control you so you'll work for her the rest of your life. Lambert Group is yours. You're back now-

shouldn't she step down and give it to you? Can't you see what she's trying to do?"

Liam took a deep breath and said, "If it weren't for her, the company would've gone under a long tago.

Andrea, | said | don't want to argue with you right now."

He turned around and started stripping the soaked bedding off the mattress, then gently lifted Grace and carried

her into his own room.

As he helped her swallow the pain meds, her phone buzzed on the nightstand. The screen lit up with the name

"Boyfriend".

Liam's eyelids twitched. After helping her take the medicine, his voice was hoarse. "Grace, how are you feeling?

I'm sorry. | should've listened to you. | was the one who insisted on keeping Andrea around. Once you get better,

you can yell atall you want."

He rested his head on the edge of the bed and started crying. Grace, barely conscious, reached up and ruffled

his hair weakly.

Liam had bought the best painkillers. Within ten minutes, the medicine started kicking in, and Grace felt her

head begin to clear.

She took a deep breath and pulled the blanket up higher. "Liam, turn up the temperature a little. It's freezing."

He nodded quickly and ran to adjust the thermostat, his red eyes making him look like a guilty rabbit standing by

the bed.

Grace wanted to say something to comfort him, but she was still in too much pain. Her eyes fluttered closed

again.

Liam picked up her phone and returned the missed call.

Ed's voice cthrough. "Weren't you supposed to csee me?"

Liam frowned, irritated. "What do you mean, supposed to csee you? Why don't you cto her? She's not

feeling well. She's resting. If you want to see her, I'll send the address. She's going to be at hfor the next

few days."

Ed's tone shifted immediately. "Is this Liam?"

Liam perked up. So Grace had mentioned him, huh? That made sense-he was her only brother. His voice

instantly turned smug.

"Yeah, it's me. | want to meet you face to face. If you're dating my sister, why are you sneaking around like it's a

dirty secret? | need to know what you're hiding."

However, the line went dead.

Liam stared at the screen in disbelief. Normally, when meeting a woman's family, a guy would be respectful,

even a little nervous. But Ed was nothing but rude.

It made Liam suspicious. If this was how Ed acted, maybe he didn't really care about Grace at all.

Liam made up his mind. As soon as Grace woke up, they were going to have a serious talk about her boyfriend.

Before that could happen, though, the doorbell rang downstairs.

A man in a white coat stood at the front door.

Andrea opened it and rolled her eyes the second she saw him. "Did Liam call you? Wow. He's so worried about

Grace. He's never even called a doctor for me."

If Grace had been awake, she would've recognized the doctor immediately. He was Ed's friend, Anthony Meyer.

Anthony politely nodded and then said, "I'm a friend of Ms. Lambert. I'm here to take her to the hospital."

The moment Andrea heard that Anthony was taking her away, her mood improved drastically. She led him up the

stairs herself.

"She's in that room. Go ahead, take her. Honestly, what a nuisance."

Anthony didn't respond, but something flickered in his expression.

Upstairs, Liam was still sitting beside the bed. When he saw Andrea bringing a stranger into the room, his head

snapped around. "Andrea, who's this?"

Andrea wiped her eyes like she was the victim. "He said he's Grace's friend and he's here to take her to the

hospital. Did | do something wrong again? You slappedearlier and still haven't even tried to comfort me."

Liam's expression darkened as his gaze swept over Anthony. "Grace's friend? Funny. I've never seen you before."

Anthony remained polite, but his eyes drifted to Grace. "Ms. Lambert has plenty of friends. You couldn't possibly

know them all. I'll take her to the hospital now."

Andrea added with a fake smile, her voice laced with venom, "Exactly. You'd never know if Grace's doing shady

things behind your back. You don't even realize how many people she'd replaced at Lambert Group. All those

higher-ups you used to know are gone.

"She never planned to hand the company back to you. She's hiding so much from you. You better wake up."

"Shut up!" Liam shouted.

He couldn't take it anymore-Andrea was toxic, and he knew Grace was nothing like what Andrea said.

Andrea huffed and looked away, clearly hurt. She had bent over backwards for Liam, and he still didn't

appreciate her.
