Henry’s POV
“She said she’ll wait for me! 1 didn’t mishear that, did 1?”
As | watched Aubrey disappear into the helicopter, | asked Callen in my head.

Callen responded irritably, “Yeah, you heard right! Damn it, why can’t | sense our fate mate
anymore? Haven’t you noticed? She hasn’t shown up in days! What if something’s happened to
her?”
“sShe’ll be fine,” | said immediately. “She’s strong. As long as she’s not ambushed, no one can take
her down.”
I lifted my head and watched the aircraft climb into the sky. My omega was powerful-brilliant,
fearless, and unmatched in courage.
1 stood there for a long tbefore turning away, my gentle gaze sharpening into a piercing
intensity. | had to wrap things up here fast and get back to her. That was all there was to it.
“Gear up! Pack everything-we’re moving out!”

Aubrey’s POV
On the way back, | called my dad to let him know my trip was over and | was coming home.
When I'd been working in the virus lab, Jax couldn't get through to me. It was Alpha Henry who stepped in and
had his mom pass the message along, telling my dad | was off on a trip and completely safe.
After the call, | closed my eyes to rest.
First thing I'd do when | got home? Take a proper bath. Everything here was covered in grime, blood, and the
constant cries of the wounded. Compared to that, Shadowmoon Pack was heaven on earth.
Unfortunately, the pilot besidewas a total chatterbox. Since | was the only passenger, he had no choice but
to try talking to me-even though | was clearly not in the mood.
“You're incredible, you know that? Do you know what people were saying about the T-Flu before you showed up?
They said it'd take at least one or two years to break through! So the focus was all on Containment, strict
quarantines, and keeping it from spreading-otherwise the whole continent could've gune down in flames! But
then you cin and poof-problem solved! I'd kill to see the looks on their faces when they realized they were
wrong!”
| didn’t reply. Those wolves weren't wrong. The T-Flu was terrifying-its infection rate was insanely fast, and once
it fuard with the cells in a wolf's busly, it would mutate. That kind of thing wasn’t easy to deal with I just
happened to know the core components of the antidote from my previous life. It wasn't skill-it was foresight I'd
simply gotten lucky

middle of my evaluation period. Why did everyone keep acting like our wedding was already on the calendar?
Then again, maybe to everyone else, the idea that an omega likecould land someone like Alpha Henry was
already the peak of good fortune.
| shook my head and was about to say something when suddenly-there was a sharp whoosh, followed by a
deafening bang!
Something had struck the rotor blade. The helicopter lurched violently, alarms started screaming,
and the dashboard lit up with flashing red!
“shit! We've lost control!” the pilot yelled.
We were under attack. | strapped on a parachute instantly.
The helicopter tilted hard and plummeted toward a forested area.
The pilot couldn’t regain control. Just before we hit the trees, he shouted, “Jump!”
And then the seat ejected him out.
With no tto hesitate, | dove out as well-just seconds before another projectile slammed into the
chopper.
Midair, the helicopter exploded in a fireball. A shard of shrapnel sliced into my thigh, tearing
through skin and muscle.
But I couldn’t stop to assess the damage. | was still falling fast. At the last second, | deployed my
chute and barely avoided being crushed on impact.
Was this an accident... or were they targeting me?
Was it because I'd destroyed their plans for the T-Flu?
