Chapter 283
In a daze, Xavier seemed to see the study's light gently turn on, and the gentle Yasmine walked in from outside
the door, placing a steaming cup of coffee on his desk. "What are you up to she asked softly Xavier was slightly
dazed, raising the photo album in his hand. Just as he was about to speak, he heard his own voice saying. Tm
busy with work, haven't | already told you? Don't disturbwhen I'm working" Xavier was just about to retort,
but Yasmine, looking flustered, quickly said, "I understand, I'm sorry. | shouldn't have disturbed you."
After she said that, Xavier felt a pang of heartache, reminiscent of the past three years of marriage where he
always spoke to Yasmine with this attitude. It only took this single moment for him to feel unbearable pain; how
must Yasmine have felt carrying this for three years? Perhaps he should just give up, knowing that the past hurts
can't be undone.
The scene shified, and the door was pushed open once more. "Xavier, my cousin Morgan senta box of coffee
beans. | don't really know much about it, so I'm giving it to you to try." Yasmine approached, cautiously placing
the box on the desk. afraid he might get angry.
Xavier knew the value of these coffee beans and also understood that Yasmine had purposely brought them for
him. He wanted to say, "I'll enjoy it, thank you, Yasmine." But before he could, the memory version of himself
spoke again, "Take it away, | don't drink coffee." For the past three years, he had always turned down Yasmine's
kindness, trampling on her sincere feelings. It wasn't until now that he realized those genuine emotions had
never disappeared; they were etched into his heart. These memories now struck him like daggers, over and
over, into his chest.
No matter how guilty he felt, it couldn't compare to Yasmine's current indifference towards him. He clutched his
chest, feeling a dull ache in his heart.

For days, the only person he could think about was Yasmine. Even thoughts of Yvette didn't worry him anymore.
He finally cto a terrifying realization-he seemed to truly have fallen for Yasmine. The more he acknowledged
this, the less he "could suppress his desire to turn back tto three years ago.
If he could turn back time, he would take good care of Yasmine and prevent those events from happening. But
what if Yvette reappeared? Lost in thought, he realized he couldn't afford to wait any longer.
At the Sanchez residence, Yasmine was having her meal. Finola had cooked all her favorite dishes, probably on
Morgan's instruction. Just as she finished eating and wiped her mouth, someone cby unexpectedly.
"Yasmine, why don't you chfor meals? | really do miss you, Aunt Ivette said as she entered the room.
Yasmine forced a somewhat awkward smile, "Aunt Ivette, you're here!"
Ivette quickly walked over and held Yasmine's hand. "Yasmine, are you getting used to living here? Honestly, |
think you'd be better off at the family estate. Your Uncle Jared and | are at hevery day and we could keep
you company
"No need, Aunt Ivette, Yasmine replied. "I'm currently renovating my place, and I'll move out once it's done."
Ivette paused for a moment. "Okay, that works too. Yasmine, the family estate has sthings going on in a few
days. If you have time, cby and lend a hand."
Yasmine asked, a bit puzzled, "Aunt Ivette, what kind of things?"
Ivette replied seriously. "Just sminor stuff. | can't handle it all on my own, and your Uncle Jared and cousin
Morgan are guys, a little too careless, you know? Us women are more detail-oriented." 11:54 Mon, Nov 18

"Alright." Even though Yasmine had no idea what her aunt was planning, she figured she ought to help. After all,
this was Morgan's mom. Growing up, she saw Aunt Ivette a lot, but always felt this mix of warmth and distance
from her. Yasmine suspected her aunt was up to something big
Over at the White Group, Irene was having a meal when her assistant cover and whispered something in
her ear. Her expression turned cold instantly. "What do you mean such a big deal, and you're only telling me
now?"
The assistant quickly explained. "Those people refused to budge, and it wasn't until this morning that we finally
got something out of them"
After finishing her meal in a hurry, Irene immediately asked her assistant to drive her to the prison. When Grady
was brought to the visiting room by the police, he couldn't figure out who had cspecifically to see him this
time, despite thinking for a long while.. When he finally got a good look at the visitor, he realized that the
excitement and anticipation he once felt were gone, leaving only deep helplessness. He didn't know how to face
Irene or whether to question her about the Summit Prosperity Group or ask if she truly wanted to marry Yonas.
The two sat across from each other in the visiting room, staring at one another for a long twithout speaking
first. Eventually, Grady couldn't hold back any longer and said, "I really didn't expect you to csee me."
Irene gave a small smile and said, "Why shouldn't | csee you? I've been meaning to visit all these days but
Grandpa kept an eye on me. Today | finally got the chance so I rushed over."
I've had a question on my mind these past few days, and | want to ask you, Grady said, eyes dim.
Irene's heart skipped a beat, but she feigned calmness and said, "Go ahead"

"Do you like Yonas?" Grady asked, his voice trembling a little.
What he didn't expect was for Irene to nod, "Yes, | do."
Grady clenched his hands tightly, holding onto a sliver of hope, and asked, "But you ctobefore and told
so you could have an excuse for your grandfather."
Irene spoke calmly, "I'm sorry, | lied to you. The one I've always liked from the beginning was Yonas. I've never
liked you. The reason | told you those things was just to make sure you would willingly harm her and take the fall
for me."
Her expression remained unchanged, but Grady's eyes were already reddened. He couldn't comprehend why
Irene could so casually say something that pierced his heart like that. If that really was the case, then what was
the point of everything he had done these past days? Were all the hardships she had endured in the hospital
because of him?
"You, you could have kept lying, so why tellthe truth?" Grady asked
Irene looked serious as she said, "Grady, because you're too foolish. Foolish enough to believe what others say
so easily. | know she cto find you, and you chose to believe her overShe gave Grady a deep lonk before
continuing, "I bet she told you that I truly liked Yonas. But | hope you understand that you should trust your own
instincts to judge."
"And what about the Summit Prosperity Group incident? The contract that was stolen, Grady asked.
Irene quickly said, "Summit Prosperity Group originally preferred the White family for that contract, but | was the
one who declined it. However, the White Group isn't just about me; they pressuredto give in." Grady
somehow believed her.
