"No.... | don't want this. | don't want you to leave." Harrietta's eyes were swollen and red as tears streamed down

her cheeks. "Why do you suddenly want to go abroad, Aunt Lenora? Did Uncle Zachary upset you? I'll go see

him!"

She attempted to jump off the couch, but Lenora stopped her and said. "Hattie, it's impossible for him andto

be together.

"Why?" Harrietta gazed at Lenora with wide, innocent eyes because she saw the relationship between Lenora

and Zachary seemed to have improved significantly.

Lenora lowered her gaze. "It's a long story. You'll understand when you're older."

Harrietta would still need Zachary's support in the future, so Lenora didn't want to speak ill of Zachary in front of

Harrietta, as could potentially ignite Harrietta's hatred toward Zachary

Back then, Zachary's decision to keep Harrietta was partly because of her. He wanted to use the child to hold

onto her, aiming to win their wager.

After all the cards had been laid on the table, Lenora had no idea how Zachary would react to Harrietta.

Miranda had long motiond that there were issues between Lenora and Zachary. She felt a deep sense of regret

but knew she couldn't interfere. "A few days ago, he had his belongings moved out. He even asked Hattie if she

wanted to move out with him. Hattie chose to stay. The day before yesterday, he cover for lunch and spent

stplaying with Hattie."

With sreluctance, Lenora relased knowing that Zachary hadn't abandoned Harrietta.

However, Harrietta stayed there because of her since she was leaving, there was no point for Harrietta to

remain

She had two choices. Either she had Harrietta move in with Zachary or relocate to the Fuller residence.

Lenora asked. "Hattie, after | leave, would you like to say with Uncle Zachary of Great-grandma?"

"I want to live with you, Aunt Lenora" Harrietta said.

There is no such option."

With a pout, Harrietta grumbled unhappily. "With Und Zachary"

Zachary paused, casting a cold glance at Lenora. He spoke seriously. "Hattie, this is a matter between adults. You

shouldn't interfere. Your new aunt is a gentle and kind person. You'll surely grow to like her." Harrietta's lips

pursed slightly.

Lenora noticed Zachary's grim expression. Fearing that anything else Harrietta might say would further upset

Zachary, she quickly interjected, "Hattie, after | leave, you must listen to Uncle Zachary in the future. When |

have time, | will cback to visit you." "Aunt Lenora..." Harrietta leaned over, not wanting Lenora to leave.

"Be good, okay?" Lenora pinched Harrietta's cheek gently before walking out the door.

Had she known earlier why Zachary had made that bet, she would never have allowed him to keep Harrietta.

Harrietta stayed behind because of her involvement with Zachary.

Lenora had no choice but to leave Harrietta with Zachary. If Zachary didn't like Harrietta, and she was sent back

to Tamara, Tamara might not treat her the sway as before. Constantly changing environments were not

beneficial for Harrietta either. Staying by Zachary's side or at the Fuller residence was the best choice for

Harrietta. As such, Lenora hoped that Zachary would treat Harrietta nicely.

In the worst-case scenario, she'd have to settle down overseas before taking Harrietta to her side, though she

hoped it wouldn't cto that.

Lenora didn't wait for the elevator, choosing instead to take the stairs down.

to stop her, "Lenora." Lenora halted in her tracks as she clenched her fist. She turned calmly to gaze at Zachary,

who was standing at the top of the stairs. "What is it?" "You're really manipulative, even using the girl for your

schemes," Zachary coldly mocked.

"How so?"

Zachary sneered, "You're well aware of what you told Hattic. Now that she's making a fuss about not wanting a

new aunt, you must be quite pleased with yourself, right?"

Is that how he sees me? He must despisedeep down, yet he was able to put on such a convincing act in

front ofthat | believed him. I'd feel bad for troubling him so, but | don't. Lenora paused, her fingernails

almost digging into her own flesh within her sleeve. "Whether you believeor not, | never took advantage of

Hattie. She's been withfor a long time, and it's only natural it's difficult for her to adjust to the idea of me

leaving. | hope you can be more understanding toward her. Goodbye."

She didn't look at Zachary again. Instead, she turned around and descended the stairs.

As Zachary listened to her serene voice and observed her frail silhouette, his heart ached unbearably

He chased after her, longing to gaze upon her, yet he found himself compelled to utter words that would provoke

her.

After so much time, Lenora thought she should've moved on from him, and she wanted to as it was the only way

she could lead a peaceful life.

Once she was certain that Zachary could no longer see her, she finally stopped in her tracks with a bitter smile.

She had firmly decided not to love him anymore. Yet, when she saw his indifferent gaze and heard his spiteful

assumptions, a dull ache still throbbed in her heart.

It was akin to an old wound. On rainy days, it would always flare up without warning. It wasn't life-threatening,

but it was incredibly hard to bear. The decayed flesh was rotting inside the body, making it difficult to cleanse.

However, twould heal all wounds.

The photography course had already ended, and with the recent conflict with Summer, Lenora hadn't been in

touch with Ezekiel much.

Upon learning that Lenora was planning to leave, Ezekiel asked to meet with her.

"I'm truly sorry, Nora." Ezekiel sighed helplessly. "I've been swamped with work lately, and | just couldn't bring

myself to face you."

He was referring to his previous promise of preventing Jasmine from seeking Lenora out. Despite that, Jasmine

still clooking for Lenora and even drugged her.

"Ezekiel, don't blyourself. She's your elder, and sometimes you can't stop her from doing what she wants,"

replied Lenora.
