Chapter 0953 "Oh, Mom... My life hasn't been easy. Like I told you, I lost half of it-half of my memories. I've tried talking to everyone I know, piecing together fragments, building a version of myself. But today... today, in particular, speaking with one person affectedmore than I expected" Peter said, frustrated.
"Who was it?" Aria asked curiously.
"Her nis Valerie," Peter admitted.
"Who is Valerie?" Aria asked, intrigued.
"Apparently, she was part of my past. Supposedly, I met her when I was 25. We lived together for a while, then she married Maximus, and... well, it's a long story.".
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtPeter went on to tell his mother everything Valerie had told him, leaving nothing out. Aria sat down, listening attentively. As she watched him struggle with his thoughts, it was as if she were listening to her own conscience- the sone that, for years, had whispered that maybe meeting Leonardo hadn't been the best thing to happen to her, despite what she had always believed.
When he finished, Aria spoke.
"Come, sit down. Do you want to know what I think?" she asked, seeing the internal battle raging within him. "Yes... Tell me," Peter said, searching for comfort.
"You have a wonderful wife, a beautiful family. You built all of this consciously. You didn't just wake up one day to find yourself forced into marriage. You made your own choices-sof them mistakes, sure-but that doesn't mean you'll spend your whole life repeating them.
"You are a father and the head of your family. You need to learn to distinguish between what's good and what's not. I'm sure what Valerie told you is true-I have no reason to doubt it. And I'm sure you shared wonderful moments together. But that, my son, is the past.
"I spent years believing that Leonardo was the worst thing that ever happened to me. Losing you, living with that pain-I blamed him for everything. I suffered the consequences of my choices while he lived a happy life with his wife and children, including you.
"For years, I held onto that idea. For years, I hated him. But as tpassed, I saw life from a different angle. If I had held onto that resentment, I would have never found peace. I would have never been happy. Every night, I would've gone to bed drowning in my own tears, consumed by the thought of what could have been but never was.
"I know it sounds like a fairytale-the life you could have had with that woman. But think about it from this perspective: Life itself has shown you, tand tagain, that she was not meant for you.
"First, you left her for Katherine, Alden's mother. Valerie married someone else-your own brother, no less. Then she cback, and both of you tried again, returning to where it all began. I admire that. I'm proud of that chapter in your life.
"But once again, life- or fate, or circumstances-pulled you apart. She suffered. You suffered. Each in your own way, and only you two know how deeply. Years passed. She married. And you? You slowly built a family. You took responsibility for your son. You helped a lost boy grow into a man who needed a father.
"And once more, life showed you that she was not your path. She moved on, just as you did. And it was the logical thing to do-she thought you were dead. That's why neither of you should carry guilt.
"Now, however you and Celeste met, just think about this: If you had been in love with Valerie-if you had spent the last 15 years holding onto her memory-but then Celeste calong and changed something inside you...

"If you ask me, I'd tell you to take this opportunity. Take it with both hands. Enjoy your life. Enjoy this woman who, from the way you describe her, has brought peace and calm into your world. "I'm sure Valerie was important to you. But life has tried, over and over again, to tell you no-that she was never the one.
"We all have that one impossible love, that one first heartbreak. We all fall for the idea that it should have been different. But sometimes, what we want isn't always what we need. "Son, you're smart. I know you'll figure out what matters more-what you had or what you have. Both were good things, but... which one do you want to keep? "Do you want to stay with Celeste and your daughters?.
"Or do you want to take another path-one that may not be easy and may not bring you complète happiness either, but one that may not offer you the speace?”
