Marcus and Valerie were having breakfast in the garden, watching as John excitedly talked to his younger

siblings. He loved being a big brother. Even though Serenity was technically his oldest sister, he took his role as

the older sibling very seriously, eager to teach his little brothers and sisters about the world.

Valerie, however, still felt unsettled. Last night had left her with a strange feeling-seeing Peter again had stirred

Valerie snapped out of her thoughts and turned to him, forcing a small smile.

Marcus knew this had everything to do with last night. And while everything had gone smoothly, watching his

wife steal glances at her ex all night had been uncomfortable, to say the least.

“Last night was... weird. Honestly, | didn’t expect Peter to really not recognize me.”

“| see... Is that what's been on your mind?”

complete stranger.”

“I can understand that. But for me, he’s always been this Peter. This is the man | grew up with, the friend I've

always considered a brother. Just with a few more gray hairs and wrinkles.”

“Okay, okay! Expression lines. But you have to admit-they make us look sexier,” Marcus teased.
