Amidst the darkness, Elvis‘ deep-set eyes appeared to draw people's souls in. He stood before Nola, his face cold

and impassive, his lips tightly sealed, making it impossible to discern his emotions.

Javion caught up, but he didn’t see who the person was and assumed it was the owner of the car coming to

cause trouble.

“I'm sorry. My girlfriend and | just had a little argument. We'll leave now.”

When Elvis heard Javion refer to her as his girlfriend, his face darkened. He easily grabbed Javion’s wrist and

applied sforce, causing Javion to cry out in pain.

“What are you trying to do?”

“When did my wife becsomeone else’s girlfriend? Mr. Lee, do you have an explanation for me?”

Only now did Javion get a clear look at who was standing in front of him. He had seen Elvis before, but he never

thought they would meet here.

“Didn’t Elvis and Nola have problems in their relationship? How could he show up here now?” thought Javion,

feeling incredulous.

As he looked at Nola’s disheveled appearance, with purple bruises on her lips and stains on her clothes, Elvis

couldn't help but think to himself that she had the nerve to say she was tough. He had only been away for a few

days, and if he hadn’t shown up today, would he have received a call to identify her body?

This woman could always cause trouble for herself.

Elvis had countless reproaches in his mind, but seeing her in such a sorry state made his heart ache, and he

couldn't bear to speak.

Amid Javion’s screams on the street, there was a sharp crack that jolted Nola back to reality. Javion was drenched

in sweat, gripping his right hand, his face drained of color.

“Elvis, you...”

“What? Do you want an ambulance to cand take you away?” Elvis’ sharp gaze frightened Javion, who dared

not say another word. Javion had voluntarily cto find Nola, and this matter couldn't be made public.

However, he had suffered a huge loss today, and he couldn't just let it slide.

Nola was shoved into the car by Elvis, and it quickly disappeared down the road, leaving her still in shock.

Wasn't Elvis supposed to be away on business? Why was he on the road to the Grant family’s house? Even if he

had just returned today, this wasn’t the way to the airport.

Nola didn’t dare to look at Elvis, remaining silent as she watched the rapidly passing night scenery outside the

car window.

The oppressive atmosphere was suffocating her, and the faster the car went, the more scared she became. She

held on tightly to her seat belt, sitting next to him, feeling his anger but not knowing what he was angry about.

Was he angry at her for making a scene with another man on the roadside so late at night, embarrassing the

Grayson family and damaging his reputation?

Fortunately, no one else saw them.

Since that night when they parted ways, they had maintained this kind of relationship. Having not seen him for

several days, she could still tell that Elvis was tired. But her concerns were stuck in her throat, and she couldn't

bring herself to say them.

Elvis was waiting for her to speak up, but Nola remained silent. He was filled with frustration and had nowhere to

vent.

Elvis was annoyed by Nola’s words that night, but what bothered him even more was his lack of control over his

emotions. He used to only miss Nancy, but now he didn’t like that his attention was being drawn towards Nola.

His growing concern for her made him uneasy. He could only remind himself that he had to be faithful to Nancy

and not fall in love with anyone else.

The business trip was just a way for them to calm down and think things through.

Spencer believed that Elvis had a soft spot for Nola, but Elvis didn’t see it that way. Godwin also suggested that

having feelings for someone meant losing control over the body’s most instinctive reactions. Elvis, who had

strong self-control, knew that the body could be brutally honest, especially in matters of the heart.

But Elvis remembered that he had lost control in the bathroom that night.

This wasn’t like him at all! He was restless, and even after a few days away on his business trip, he couldn't

forget that face. Nola was mischievous, stubborn, and sometimes cute. When she slept, she looked peaceful and

gentle. But for several days, this girl didn’t contact him at all, not even a word of concession.

Suppressing his anger, Elvis resolved the issue and returned to check on her. He was concerned that Nola

wouldn't be able to take care of herself alone in Breeze Garden.

But when he finished his business and returned, he found out that she wasn’t at Breeze Garden. Alisa told him

that Nola went alone to the Grant family’s dinner party, which made him feel uneasy. Fortunately, he cto

pick her up and found her in such a miserable state.

Although Elvis had been away for just a few days, he was devastated to see Nola in such a state. She was known

for her tenacious spirit, but now she appeared resigned and defeated. Javion’s words had further enraged him.

Nola was taken away without uttering a single word, leaving Elvis consumed by rage that he couldn't release. He

drove recklessly, hoping that Nola would eventually break the silence and speak to him.

The car drove into Breeze Garden with a beautiful and precise drift, parking in the garage.

Elvis walked ahead as they got out of the car, with Nola following behind at a leisurely pace, wondering how she

would start the conversation. She remembered that Elvis had asked her not to be too distracting around him and

disturb his peace of mind.

As they entered the house, Alisa felt that something was amiss when she saw Nola’s face and hands, and was

startled. “Mrs. Grayson, what happened to you?”

Nola shook her head and said, “Alisa, I'm fine. It's just sminor injuries.”

“How...”

“Alisa, you go to rest first.” Alisa picked up on the tension and decided to give them sspace, excusing

herself to her

room.

There were only the two of them left in the huge living room, Nola was suffocating and eventually sighed. Seeing

that Elvis wasn’t saying anything, she beceven more anxious.

She had to pass by him and go upstairs with a stiff upper lip.

As Nola walked past Elvis, Elvis was furious at her appearance and grabbed her wrist. “Did I tell you to leave?

Don’t you want to explain anything about what happened tonight?” Under the crystal chandelier, Nola’s injuries

were even more apparent.

Elvis narrowed his eyes and thought, “Why does it seem like she’s walking into the dragon’s den? If she’s going

home, why didn’t she inform me? What is my place in her life as her husband?”

Nola had no choice but to meet his gaze. She tried to adjust her emotions and calmly explained, “It's not what

you think. Meeting Javion was just a coincidence. | don’t know why he acted that way. There won't be a next

time. Don’t worry, I'll be a good daughter-in-law to the Grayson family and won't embarrass you or the family. |

won't cross any boundaries.”

Elvis furrowed his brow and was not satisfied with her answer. “And then?” he asked. After hearing her

explanation, he felt somewhat relieved, but he wanted to know what had caused her injuries.

“What else?” Nola asked.

“Your injuries? Nola, you've made yourself so miserable, can you be any more useless? You're my woman,

haven't | said not to let anyone bully you? Can't you remember?”

She was full of grievances, but when Elvis called her useless, she suddenly laughed coldly and said, “Yes! I'm so

useless. My affairs are not worth troubling you. It
