Nola waited from dusk to evening. Besides the soup in the pot, the other dishes were all cold, but Elvis hadn't

chome.

Nola stared at her phone. She thought about calling him, but considering that Elvis was running a huge group, he

must really busy. She didn’t want to disturb him. There was one tthat Elvis didn’t chuntil midnight.

Hence, Nola didn’t dial his number in the end.

When Elvis returned, it was almost nine. Nola bounced up from the chair when she heard the door. Suddenly, she

felt like a pitiful wife waiting for her long-absent husband. She shook her head, getting rid of those negative

feelings, and welcomed

Elvis

“Welcback. | told Alisa to go hearly because it’s too cold now,”

“Mm!” Putting away the briefcase, Elvis suddenly recalled that Nola had texted him in the afternoon, saying she

would treat him to a meal. An emergency occupied him so much that he forgot about it.

Elvis glanced at the dished placed on the table and believed he owed her an explanation.

“Sorry for being hlate. It was an emergency. | should have told you. Elvis wouldn't take his phone during

meetings, so he didn’t notice the flying time.

“It’s OK. Business goes first. I'll go heat up the dishes.”

Elvis walked to the table and believed those weren't Alisa’s cooking. He tilted his head and looked at her. “You

made all these!”

It was an embarrassing question. Nola nodded and replied, “Yeah, I'm not a good cook as Alisa, but when you

said you wanted something in return, cooking was the only thing on my mind. Ill heat them up, and you can

have a taste, OK?”

“Sure!”

Usually, Elvis would have Alisa prepare sfood after he returned home. Sometimes, he just skipped dinner

and had a cup of coffee. Having someone waiting for him at their hsomehow warmed his heart.

He had never thought that Nola would cook for him in person. It showed how serious she was about him. And it

cheered him a lot no matter why she did it.

“Have you eaten?”

“What?” Nola was busy in the kitchen with her hair causally tied up, revealing her fair cheeks. The soft light fell

on her in the pink apron. That scene was such a comfort to him.

“A girl prepared food for me, waited forto get off work, and welcomedwhen | returned. This feels... nice,”

Elvis thought.

“Uh... no. | forgot about my dinner!” She smiled awkwardly and added, “It’s OK. I'm not really hungry. Yet just

after she finished speaking, her tummy purred. Nola blushed, wishing that Elvis had heard nothing.

“Eat with me.”

They sat in the dining room together like a loving couple and enjoyed the meal. No one would know that they

had only known each other for a month if they saw that harmonious scene.

Nola was expecting Elvis to say something. After all, it took her a lot of effort to cook the meal.

“I made these dishes, and Alisa taughtto make this soup. See if you like them.”

Alisa gave Nola sinformation about Elvis that afternoon. People believed that vis, as a Grayson, was living a

carefree and leisurely life, but it was not true. He was also a businessman. And as a businessman, he had to

Now that Nola knew that, she would make schanges for the sake of his health. Nola smiled when she noned

that Ebris was enjoying her food. She then started to apply the method Linda taught her, pouring swine for

Well, she couldn't just copy and paste, but she could try to get Elvis drunk “Red wine won't harm his body. So it

will be OK. 1 suppose,” she said to herself.

And Elvis just stared at his glass, saying nothing

“Well, your gift is quite costly,”

Nola rolled her eyes at him. “Con. Talking about money at this moment? Seriously? Do you or do you not

want to enjoy this meal?”

Elvis was amused. He took a sip of the wine, thinking how cute Nola was, for he could easily read her mind.

The girl wanted to get him drunk, but it was not gonna happen.

Alcohol did make people brave. On that occasion, Nola, who was always timid, needed salcohol for herself.

They drank a lot during the meal, but Nola could not hold her liquor. She was no match for Elvis. Soon, she

And drunk Nola was the bravest.

“Mr. Grayson! You are my husband, right? I'm your legal wife, Mrs. Grayson!”

Looking at her pink cheek, Elvis had to nod. “Yes, you always are.”

“Right?! So, why don’t you tellto screw that recommendation! TellI'm the boss. | have the final say! You

don’t need any tests! Welcon board!” Nola rolled her eyes again and mumbled, “I'm not saying that | want

to use you. But you're asking too much. I have to suck up to you just to get that recommendation from you. This

is so unfair!”

Elvis frowned, trying

y hard not to laugh out loud. The last twhen Nola was drunk, she yelled that she would marry him. This time,

she had the balls to scold him.

“You want it this way, huh? You wantto plead with you, huh? If so, just say it! I, Nola Grant, the cutest and

smartest girl in the world, am married to you now! What kind of girl do you like? I'll adjust my orientation and be

your ideal girl! Cuz I'm the best, and | will satisfy you

“You're too drunk. Letescort you back to your room.” Elvis wanted to escort Nola back, but Nola was not in

the mood to sleep. She sat on his lap and hooked his neck, whispering in a breathy tone. “I am not! | cooked and

waited for you! | forgot my own dinner and made a great toast to you. Recommendation! Are you going to give it

toor not?!”

“So now you are threatening me, right?” Elvis said while he looked at her grabbing his collar. Somehow, her

drunk look entertained him. Yet Elvis was sure that he wouldn't let anyone else see her drunk look.
