Seeing these things touched something deep inside Sylvia. It was as if, in this moment, she truly realized that she was Nana.

“This rocking horse, your grandfather made it for you by hand. He painted the colors on it himself,” Gia said, her eyes filled

with a gentle smile. “This golden bell, too. He had a gold bar melted down just to make it for you. You absolutely loved this horse

when you were little.”

Sylvia nodded slowly and sat on the floor in front of the horse, looking at the lifelike toy. Even now, she felt a great fondness for it.

Gia opened a wardrobe, revealing rows of small dresses. “These are all the dresses you wore.”

Dresses of all kinds. Although twenty years had passed and they looked a little old, they were still beautiful, and a wave of

familiarity washed over Sylvia.

“And...” Gia pulled two large photo albums from a drawer at the bottom of the wardrobe and sat on the floor with Sylvia.

“These are your childhood photos.”

Ever since Nana had disappeared, no one had dared to open these albums.

Sealed for twenty years, they were covered in a thin layer of dust. Before she even opened them, Gia's eyes welled up with

tears.

When she opened the album, the first thing they saw was a baby picture. Photos from over twenty years ago weren't as clear as

they are now, but the baby girl's chubby face and large, bright eyes were still heart-meltingly cute.

“Your father left not long after you were born. You were the only reason | could carry on.”

“This one was taken in H City. I'd had a fight with your grandfather, so | took you withthere. We lived in H City for almost a

year. | had just graduated and refused to accept any help from your grandfather, so | worked as an art teacher to support us. You

were such a good baby. Every t| taught my students, you would sleep soundly and never bother me.”

“This is when we cback to J City and lived here. Your grandfather accepted you and grew to love you more and more.”

Sylvia watched the girl in the photos grow up day by day, and the missing pieces of her childhood were finally, slowly, being filled

in.
