Chapter 478
Dominic's eyes had just drifted back to his computer screen when they flicked up again, landing on Vespera. He
chuckled and said, "Ms. Gildon, this is the first tyou've waited forto get off work."
Vespera took a seat on the couch and wondered who would wait around just to go hwith their boss?
She had already gotten off work and just mentally switched him out of the professional mode and into personal
mode.
"Mr. Reid, stop chatting withand finish your work," said Vespera.
Dominic laughed and answered, "You're right. My efficiency clearly needs work."
Vespera didn't know what to say. She gave up trying to respond. She put on her earphones and started scrolling
through her phone.
What she didn't realize was that lounging in the president's office and openly playing on her phone was
something only she could get away with.
Dominic returned his attention to his screen. He wrapped things up quickly and turned off his computer. Then, he
got up and walked over to Vespera, who had her back facing him.
She was fully immersed in watching videos. He bent down and pulled one earphone out. He said, "Let's go."
One ear was blasting cheerful music, while the other caught the low hum of his voice. A chill ran down her spine.
She turned on reflex, and their faces almost brushed one another, like they were about to kiss.

Sometimes, Dominic would want to work overtand delay getting off work a couple of hours.
Usually, Gerard and Dominic were the only ones left in the office at this time. So, Gerard had gotten used to
knocking and walking straight in. But today? He stepped inside and caught a glimpse of Dominic and Vespera.
He froze immediately and gasped.
Dominic looked toward the door. Just as he turned, Gerard panicked and dropped his gaze, fumbling around in his
pockets. With a frown, he turned to leave while mumbling, "Where are the car keys? Why are they gone?"
And Gerard fled the scene. Upon seeing that, Vespera was rendered speechless. The car keys weren't even with
Gerard. They were sitting right there on Dominic's desk. Dominic had tossed them there himself when he got
back earlier.
As Dominic and Vespera stepped out of the office, she glanced back at Gerard's office and asked, "Shouldn't we
wait for Gerard?"
Dominic turned her head forward and replied, "He's still searching for the car keys. Let's not interrupt him."
Vespera looked at the keys in Dominic's hand. All she wanted was a ride home. She hadn't meant to destroy the
harmonious relationship between Dominic and Gerard.
She mumbled to herself, "Gerard, I'm sorry. | didn't mean to ruin your evening."
If Gerard heard that, he would say, "Hurry up and go. Don't look back. Forget about me!"
Five minutes later, Gerard peeked
out from between the blinds to
make sure Dominic and Vespera
were truly gone. Once the coast was clear he sighed in reher Did that mean he wouldn't need to drive Dominic
hanymore? That would be awesome. s
In the elevator, Vespera was still feeling guilty. Unbeknownst to her, Gerard was already texting his friends to
have a meal together After all, who liked to stay with their
boss? Anyone would want to have a nice meal and a drink with their
friends.

Even though it was already 6:30 pm, the sun still blazed across the sky, painting it
in hues of orange and gold.
On the way home, Dominic was
behind the wheel, while Vespera sat in the passenger seat. She was thinking about going hthe next day to
drop off the souvenirs she had brought back from Londarion for her parents. She could sit down with Wanda
again and clear the air. s
Anyway, lying wouldn't work forever.
While Vespera was lost in thought, her phone rang. It was another text message. After the picture last night,
even the notification sound felt ominous.
Dominic noticed and instinctively eased off the gas. He cast a glance her way and asked, "Do you wantto
check it?"
Vespera responded, "No, I've got it."
She wasn't so traumatized that she couldn't even look at her own phone. But this time, she was careful. She
wasn't going to tap blindly. Instead, she checked the sender first before clicking in.
