Chapter 477
Vespera was shocked. Dominic's parents wanted to meet her?
Dominic had said it so casually, but to Vespera, it hit her like a hurricane. That was just how she was. When panic
reached a certain point, she wouldn't freak out. She would appear calm and unmoved.
"Vera?" Dominic called out, patting her cheek.
Vespera looked like her soul had temporarily left her body. She snapped back to her senses and stammered., "I'm
not mentally prepared for that yet."
Besides, Fawn was already setting Dominic up with sother woman from a wealthy family. If they were asking
Vespera over now, it wasn't just to get to know her.
Vespera could already picture Fawn pulling her aside for a polite little chat and telling her that she should do
what was best for everyone.
Vespera didn't want to go. She was just exhausted thinking about the sscene happening again.
Dominic noticed her frown. She didn't seem to like it. He asked, "You heard that my mom is looking for a woman,
and it's bothering you, isn't it? | won't deny she has her own ideas about this, but she's looking for someone she
won't find."

Vespera didn't want to go. She didn't want to experience that situation again.
Dominic could sense Vespera's retreat. The reluctance in her eyes was enough to sting.
"We won't go then. We'll think about it next time. Take your time. | said | would wait, and | meant it," comforted
Dominic.
"Alright. I'll think about it," replied Vespera, letting out the breath she had been holding in. The weight pressing
down on her chest eased.
Dominic ran a hand through her hair and said, "Don't worry about it. There's no need to rush. We have lots of
time."
Vespera didn't answer.
Dominic glanced at his watch and said, "Ms. Gildon, lunch break is over, but I'm authorizing an extra two hours of
rest for you."
Then, Dominic got up and turned to leave. Once Vespera could no longer see his face, his expression changed
into disappointment.
It wasn't her fault. It was his. He had mishandled things and let everything move too fast. He tried to pusher into
a choice she wasn't ready to make. So, how could she accept it? s
Vespera turned around to look at Dominic. She could only see his back, but she could sense his disappointment.
Was he hurt because she didn't want to go?
Lying on her stomach, Vespera fell deep in thought. A pang of guilt crept up on her, and her heart softened for
Dominic.
Nonetheless, she stopped herself. Her heart might be soft, but would the Reid family soften for her?
A relationship with no future, or one that had to be fought for every step of the way, was just a slow death in
disguise. Sooner or later, it would rot. And the one who swallowed it whole would be the one to choke on it.

There was no way Vespera could go.
Needless to say, Vespera didn't nap for two hours. Dominic had made it sound so easy. Taking a nap for two
hours? Was he going to help her with her workThat would be impossible. s
On the other hand, Dominic didn't rest either. Sometin the afternoon, he left the office alone. He didn't
return until nearly 4:00 pm.
By 5:30 pm, Vespera was done with her day and packing up to leave. Since she had taken a taxi that morning,
she figured she might as well catch a ride hwith Dominic.
She knocked on his office door and stepped inside. She asked, "Mr. Reid, are you finished for the day?"
Dominic looked up from his computer screen and answered, "I still need another half an hour."
Vespera walked toward his side and said, "Alright. I'll wait for you. Let's go htogether."
