Chapter 462
Dominic glanced at Raymond with a cold gaze. Meanwhile, Vespera silently buried her face in her hands. Did
Raymond really have to say that out loud?
Rebecca nearly burst into laughter on the spot. Dominic ate all this on the regular? Was he so weak that he
needed restorative food every meal? That was tragic and hilarious.
Even Wanda was momentarily speechless. A while later, she forced a polite smile and responded, "The wealthy
certainly eat differently. It's quite the breakfast."
It was indeed quite the breakfast. Not only was the food strange, but the conversation was even stranger.
Vespera kept her head down, pretending to focus on eating as she tried to avoid
the topic.
Raymond just smiled and said nothing more. He bent down and scooped up Snowball. Then, he said, "It looks like
Snowball is hungry. I'll go and feed him."
With that, Raymond left with Snowball nestled in his arms. It clung to him with its paws, meowing sweetly. After
all, he fed it more than anyone else.
Back in the dining area, Dominic quietly pushed his portion to the side and reached for the food Wanda had
brought instead.
Dominic grabbed a sandwich and took a bite, eating slowly. His every movement had a kind of natural elegance.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAs he ate, there was a genuine flicker of pleasant surprise on his face. After eating, he looked up and asked,
"Mrs. Gildon, did you make these yourself?"
Wanda had been silently watching Dominic. When she heard his question, she hesitated, not particularly eager
to talk with him, who had been cozying up to Vespera. Nonetheless, she still replied in the end, "And what makes
you think that, Mr. Reid?"
"The ingredients used are tender without being overly seasoned. You preserved the nature of each ingredient.
It's elegant but restrained, just like you, Mrs. Gildon. Only someone who finds beauty in simplicity could turn
something so everyday into something so poetic," answered Dominic.
Dominic spoke with a steady rhythm. His voice was mellow and warm, and his remark was sincere. It was the
kind of compliment that didn't feel like flattery. It felt like appreciation.
Vespera and Rebecca were rendered speechless. Both of them were dumbfounded. How did Dominic manage to
say something so cheesy and make it sound natural? Who could resist such a compliment?
As expected, Wanda wavered. Her biggest dream was to beca poet. She wrote in her free tand fancied
herself pretty good at it Being told her cooking had the soul of a poem was miles better than being called pretty,
elegant, or any of those shallow compliments. s
"Mr. Reid, you truly have a way with words. | just like making a few snacks here and there. | enjoy baking and
other similar activities," responded Wanda.
Dominic smiled, his eyes curved, making him look even more charming. He added, "Mrs. Gildon, it's obvious that
you have a natural gift. Whatever you do, you do it beautifully. It's no wonder Vera takes after you."
It was a flawless compliment combo. There were no weak points. What mother could resist that?
Wanda tried to act modest, but the faint smile on her face gave her away. She said, "I just make them for fun."
Dominic continued, "It tastes delicious even though you only made it for fun. You're amazing."
Dominic grabbed a few more sandwiches and continued eating, looking as though he genuinely enjoyed them.
It was hard to say whether his
compliments were just that effective
or his way of eating was just that convincing. But somehow both Vespera and Rebecca suddenly felt like those
sandwiches looked
especially appetizing. s
They each grabbed a sandwich and took eager bites. And then, their expressions froze. Like usual, Wanda didn't
put any seasonings, not even a pinch of salt. It was indeed tender and natural. It was way too natural.
The thing was, this wasn't the first tthey had eaten Wanda's food. They should have remembered.
Honestly, Dominic should be recruited to sell things on livestreams. But no matter how over-the-top it all
seemed, his performance broke the ice, and the tension in the dining area finally eased.
Sometimes, praise accomplished what reason couldn't. Even though Wanda knew fully well that Dominic was just
trying to win her over, she couldat bring herself to dislike him. He was simply too good at giving giving
compliments. s
After breakfast, Dominic got up and prepared to leave. Before going, he told Vespera to stay hand rest that
day and to go back to work the next day.
