Chapter 104
Christiana’s POV.
| sat behind my massive desk in my office, tapping my fingers rhythmically on the polished mahogany. The air
was heavy with tension, and the clicking of my fingers seemed to echo louder in the room. My jewelry company
was thriving, the business booming beyond expectations. But | couldn’t focus on that, not when there was a
storm swirling inside me. My eyes flicked over to Grace, my P.A., who stood rigid at the side, her hands clasped
nervously in front of her.
“Grace, where are the reports | asked for?” | snapped, harsher than necessary. | could see her flinch slightly, but
she quickly collected herself and handedthe file.
“They're right here, ma'am. | finished them early this morning,” she said, her voice small.
“Good. Now get back to the other tasks. | don’t want any delays today. Not a second out of place.” My tone left
no room for argument. Grace nodded swiftly and hurried out of my office.
| leaned back in my chair, letting out a long, frustrated sigh. | wasn’t like this before, this strict, this sharp. But
everything was different now. My whole life was spiraling out of control, and | needed something to hold onto,
something to givea sense of control. But no matter how strict | was with my employees, no matter how
efficiently | ran my company, it didn’t fill the hollow ache that gnawed at me.
My children.
They still weren't speaking to me. It had been days now, and their silence was like a dagger twisting in my heart.
All because | tried to protect them, to stop them from seeing him. Their father. The man who had disappeared
from our lives for so long. But instead of understanding, they had turned on me. Now, when | called out to them,
they barely responded. When | walked into a room, they avoided me.
| closed my eyes, rubbing my temples as the weight of it all pressed down on me. How did | get here? This was
the first real fight I'd ever had with them, and it had blown up in my face. They didn’t likeanymore. They
didn’t understand that | was doing this for them, for their safety. And now, they were slipping away from me, and
it hurt more than | could bear.
“Ma’am?” Grace's hesitant voice broke through my thoughts as she stepped back into the room. “The
television...there’s sbreaking news you might want to see.”
| frowned, sitting up straighter. Grace nervously turned the flat-screen TV on the wall, and | watched as the news

“Breaking news just in. Celebrity fashion icon Bianca Monroe Lewis, who had been held in custody for several
criminal accusations, has been released after being found not guilty. According to sources, her legal team, led by
a top defense attorney, managed to clear her nwithout any need for bail. And in a surprising twist, it seems
Madam Margret Alistair, a prominent figure known for her influence, had a hand in facilitating her release.”

| couldn’t believe what | was hearing. Bianca...out? Not guilty?
“No,” | whispered, my voice barely audible as the disbelief settled in. “No... no, this can’t be right.”
The rage began to bubble inside me, rising fast, hotter and hotter until it exploded out of me. I shot up from my
seat, knocking the chair backward with a loud thud.
WHAT?!” | screamed, my voice ringing out through the office, reverberating off the walls. “How is this even
possible? She's innocent? That woman is a liar! She’s a monster! She tried to kill me! She tried to kill my
children! And they're letting her
go?”

My breaths cin ragged, furious gasps as | paced around the office, my fists clenched so tightly my nails dug
into my palms. | could feel the heat rising up my neck, my face flushing with fury. | couldn't make sense of it.
This was insane. This was beyond wrong.
“That woman did everything! She is not innocent!” | shouted, the words flying out of my mouth, my anger
consuming me. “This is wrong. All of it. And Madam Margret...her? She had a hand in this?”
Grace looked on, wide-eyed, too scared to move or speak.
“Of course it was her,” | muttered to myself, pacing faster. “That horrible woman. She always hated me. Always
resented me. And now she’s helping her? Bianca of all people! The one person who's been afterand my
children?”
My body trembled with rage, my vision blurring as the reality of it sank in. Madam Margret Alistair, Alex's
mother, the woman who had despisedfrom the moment she laid eyes on me, had helped Bianca. She had
actually used her influence to get that woman released from prison, the very woman who had tried to destroy
my life.
“HOW DARE SHE!” | screamed at the top of my lungs, throwing a stack of papers off my desk in frustration. They
scattered across the floor like leaves in a storm, but | didn’t care. “How dare she do this! Bianca is guilty! She
tried to ruin me. She's after my children for God's sake!”

My voice cracked, and | stopped, staring blankly at the TV. My heart pounded so hard it hurt. This can’t be real.
