Chapter One Hundred and Twenty Nine
There was a knock on our door, and for sreasons | couldn't explain, | knew who it was.
Thane.
“I don’t want to see him, Axel.”
Axel nodded before heading for the door.
“Alpha... | am not sure she wants to see you right now.”
“Axel, letin. | need to speak to her.”
“I'm sorry, | can’t. | might be your fiend, but | would say it to you when you act like a jerk. Just stop hurting her
already; make your decision and stand on it,” Axel said, and though I couldn't see them, | felt the tension in the
air even from here.
“You know | had to.” He says
“Not in the sroom you share with her, that is disrespectful... Alpha.”
“You are right. Could you letmake adjustments at least?” Thane asks, and | knew he didn’t exactly need
Axel’s permission to walk in, but still he waited.
Finally, Axel let him in, and | couldn’t blhim; Thane was his Alpha.
“Riley, can we talk?” Thane says to me, but | couldn't even look him in the eyes. | don’t bother responding. He
walks to me, standing right beside me. “There is something you need to know, Riley.”
“No, keep it to yourself; | don’t care.”
“Riley...”
“Stop! Why can’t you just letbe? Go back to the ancient lover; | would never bother you again.”
“Remember when you asked what exactly was the deal | had with Elder Bailey and I told you she wanted
power?” he asks.
“What does this have to do with these? | questioned
“It doesn’t justify anything, but you have the right to know. Bailey had offered her help if only... she could be my
queen. She believes | would make her the queen over you, but that is what | let her believe. She is wrong; you

“By assure her, you meant ‘fuck her“?”
“I'm sorry”.

“Why are you sorry? Was it because | discovered?”
Thane was silent, indeed speechless.
“Then maybe you switch up the plan.”
“What?”
“The deal was to make her queen right?”
“What are you getting at?” Thane asked.

I want.”
“I cannot do that; you are and would always be who | want.
“No, you can’t want me; remember, | am your sister.”
“Half sister,” he corrected through gritted teeth.
“Yes that. So move on; just as you already did, | would always be supporting you, of course as a sister would.”
“Stop saying that word.”
“What word? ‘sister?’, but that is what | am to you, right?”
“You know what? I do not care if you are partly related to me; | want you, and that’s all that matters,” he says.
“he says. Watching me, | could see the slight desperation in his eyes-or maybe | read wrong, just as | always
read things wrong.
“But that would be immoral... | don’t think | could forget about the fact that we are related; | not do it with you,
not when | know the truth,’ | said, throwing his words back at him.
“You were okay with this...”
“Maybe | am not anymore; maybe | want to see things from your point of view, and you were right.”
“I don’t understand. Isn't this what you
wanted?
“I wanted a man | could love without the constant tears; | wanted a man | could love without being so paranoid,
imagining you with other women when you are alone; | wanted a man that doesn’t always keepon my toes,
and maybe it was never you; maybe all these t| had loved the wrong person.”
“What are you saying?”
“I am saying that... you are my half brother.”
“Again with that phrase...”
