Chapter 1352
The calmer Lydia appeared, the more anxious Mrs. Fay became. She would prefer if Lydia broke down in tears,
screamed, or even smashed everything in the house. Anything but this eerie calmness.
Mrs. Fay pulled her into a tight embrace. "Lydia, you know you're our only child. If anything were to happen to
you, your father and | wouldn't survive it."
With the awful things being said online, Mrs. Fay was terrified that her daughter might not be able to handle it
and would consider something drastic.
But Lydia wouldn't let that happen. She wrapped her arms around her mother, noticing how much weight she
had lost. It was something Lydia hadn't realized before. All because she had been worried about her.

"I may have lost my child, but I still have you and Dad. You're the best parents in the world, and | want to take
care of you. As long as we clear up the truth, everything will be fine," Lydia reassured her, though as soon as she
spoke, the doorbell rang. She quickly went to the door and looked through the peephole. It was Eugene standing
outside.
She opened the door. "How did you know | was here?"
"When your parents bought this place, we were neighbors. | lived next door. | renovated my place last year and
installed a video doorbell. | saw you through the camera, so | rushed over," Eugene explained, pointing to the
camera installed by his front door. Lydia followed his gesture and indeed saw the camera. The idea that he had
seen her through the footage made her a bit uncomfortable, like she was being watched. But since he lived next
door and was checking his own property, she couldn't really complain. She responded politely, "What a
coincidence."
"Is that you, Eugene?" Mrs. Fay called out as she cto the door and greeted him. "Lydia just moved in today,
so the house is still a bit messy, or we would have invited you in to sit."
Mrs. Fay was overwhelmed with
dealing with the online surrounding her daughter and barely had the energy to entertain guests, even if
this particular guest was her favorite choice for a future son-in-law.
Eugene, however, didn't leave. He got straight to the point. "Mrs. Fay, I've seen all the online rumors."
Mrs. Fay's heart sank. "What are you saying, Eugene?"
Lydia was being attacked so
viciously online that even extrcomments had begun targeting the Fay family's business. If Eugene wanted
to distance himself from her, it wouldn't be a surprise. It understandable, though

disappointing.
But she had chosen Eugene as a future son-in-law because he had shown unwavering affection for Lydia, always
promising to stand by her no matter what.
"I want to help fix the situation
online," Eugene continued, his voice full of emotion. "Mrs. Fay, | truly care about Lydia. Seeing those online
trolls attack her is killing me. I..." His voice broke, and his eyes reddened.
He wiped his eyes with his sleeve. "I'm sorry. | didn't mean to get emotional in front of you."
"Eugene, don't apologize. Please, cin. There's no need to stand on ceremony with us," Mrs. Fay said, her
heart swelling with admiration for him.
Her opinion of him, already high, soared even further. She didn't think for a second that shedding tears made
him any less of a man.
