Chapter 838
Tseemed to freeze for a moment as Marguerite stood there, stunned.
How did Maurice get in here?
She thought for a moment and quickly pieced it together.
Maurice had been keeping an eye on her, always one step ahead. He knew she was meeting new people, so how
could he not know about Silas?
Chuck had told her before that Silas was a big deal internationally, that anything Maurice wanted to export had
to go through Silas first.
But no matter how powerful Silas was, straightforward and honest people often fell prey to those who played
dirty, and Maurice was a master of the latter.
He could make any man interested in her vanish without a trace; who's to say he wouldn't do something to Silas?
Marguerite wanted to quickly send Silas away, but it was too late. He was already walking in, carrying Hayes.
Seeing a strange man in Marguerite's home, Silas paused, taken aback.
Maurice, however, didn't seem surprised. He rose from the couch, his gaze lingering on the scarf around
Marguerite's neck before quickly masking his reaction.
From the moment they had parted that afternoon, he had someone watching her.
He knew exactly who had given her that scarf.

Had Frederick and Marguerite already reunited?
He wrapped an arm around Marguerite's waist, his eyes subtly sizing up Silas.
"Why are you hso late? It's already dark out."
Marguerite instinctively tried to push him away, but Maurice caught her hand in his.
Silas frowned, his expression a mix of jealousy, anger, and confusion.
He certainly didn't seem like someone who had regained his memories.
And it didn't appear he and Marguerite had reunited.
Maurice concluded this internally and soon noticed Hayes looking at him, offering an explanation:
"Uncle, a classmate got sick today, so | went to see her... Mom cto pickup, and we got back late..."
Uncle?
Silas set Hayes down, his expression darkening.
If Hayes called him Uncle, then Marguerite must be the man's sister-in-law.
But Silas could clearly feel there was schemistry between Marguerite and the
man.
Filled with hostility, he glared at Maurice, who had already slipped an arm around Marguerite's shoulders.
Silas' eyes narrowed, his face expressionless as he greeted, "Hello."
Maurice nodded slightly, glancing down at Marguerite with a gentle tone, "Aren't you going to introduce us?"
His tone was so familiar, so natural, as if they were an old married couple.
Marguerite felt a knot in her chest, unable to breathe properly, worried that Maurice might see through her and
make Silas his next target.
After all, men who liked her usually didn't meet good ends.
How long had Maurice been watching her? Marguerite didn't have an answer.
All she could do was quickly recall and analyze any potentially revealing interactions she and Silas had had in
public.
The only incident that stood out was when Silas had run out of the hospital to confess his feelings to her.
But that had happened in her apartment; unless Maurice had bugged her place, there was no way he could
know.
She lifted her eyes to Silas, sighing deeply, and introduced him, "He's the largest investor in Polar Radiance,
Silas."
Maurice's grip on her shoulder tightened. "Is that all?”
Marguerite resisted, "What else is there? This project relies on Mr. Ward for funding. He's here to pick up a
sample."
With that, Marguerite walked into the bedroom to fetch the Polar Radiance sample, missing the hurt in Silas's
eyes.
Investor?
Mr. Ward?
Silas would rather Marguerite introduce him as someone pursuing her than hear those cold, distant titles.
She didn't seem to want this man to know about their relationship.
Why?
Just who exactly was this man to Marguerite?!
