Chapter 837

Hayes took a quick glance at the shelf, his tiny finger pointing to a royal blue scarf

with a yellow trim. "That one looks nice," he said in his sweet little voice.

Silas turned to the elderly woman behind the counter. "We'll take this one, please."

"Sure thing!" she replied with a warm smile.

The old lady lovingly took the scarf down from the shelf and couldn't resist giving Hayes's cheek a gentle

squeeze, showering him with compliments about his impeccable taste for someone so young.

On that entire shelf, the royal blue scarf was the priciest and the hardest to sell. She hadn't expected to sell it so

quickly after setting up shop. Today was definitely her lucky day!

Her face lit up with a smile, her wrinkles resembling gentle carvings, emanating warmth and kindness. She held

the scarf up to Marguerite's neck, ready to tie it, but paused. Looking at Silas, she suggested, "Young man, why

don't you try tying it?"

Silas hesitated. "I don't know how."

The lady patted his shoulder, "I'll show you! Con, put the little one down. Every husband should know how

to tie a scarf for his wife, just like women tie ties for their men!"

Marguerite's expression was a mix of surprise and mild panic. Out of nowhere, she found herself with a husband,

and now there was talk of Silas tying a scarf for her. She felt the need to stop this intimate gesture, but before

she could speak, it was too late.

Silas's long arms were already reaching around her neck, gently placing the scarf around it, readying to tie a

knot with the old lady's guidance. Manual tasks like this were tricky for him, and given Marguerite was quite a bit

shorter than Silas, he had to bend down, tilting his head slightly, his gaze fixed intently on her neck.

His warm fingers brushed against the skin on her neck, sending a shiver down her spine, goosebumps rising. Just

then, their eyes met, and in that split second, it was as if all unsaid emotions were communicated in an

unspoken understanding.

Tseemed to pause, the streetlights casting long shadows of the two. Their breathing was uneven, and the

charged atmosphere wrapped around their hearts. Hayes, feeling shy, quickly turned away. He saw the shadows

of his mom and Silas, and they looked like they were kissing under the streetlight. He knew it was just a trick of

the light, but he didn't mind the closeness between Silas and his

mom.

They held that pose for what felt like forever, and Hayes wasn't quite sure if Silas was still tying the scarf or

leaning in for a kiss. The old lady broke the moment, saying, "That's it! You've got it! Young lady, you're lucky-a

cute son and a handshusband to boot. | can tell, even with the mask, this guy's a real catch! You better hold

on tight!"

Marguerite's face flushed a deep crimson, and she never got around to explaining her actual relationship with

Silas to the old lady. Silas paid for the scarf, picked Hayes back up, and they leisurely made their way toward

Marguerite's apartment, Silas secretly wishing the walk would stretch on forever.

Marguerite lightly patted her cheeks, snapping herself out of the flustered mood. She recalled Stella's call earlier

that afternoon, reminding her, "The lady doctor who called you today is a friend of mine."

"Your friend?"

Marguerite nodded, "Yes, she's a seasoned therapist. If she could give you scounseling, it might help with

your headaches."

Silas was surprised Stella was on Marguerite's side. Did this mean Marguerite cared about him too? He didn't ask

or press the matter, just nodded with a knowing smile, "Since she's your friend, I'll cooperate."

Before long, the three of them arrived at the apartment. Marguerite punched in the code and entered first, about

to switch on the light and head to the bedroom to fetch the Polar Radiance for Silas.

But as she rounded the corner past the entryway, she saw Maurice sitting on the couch.
