Chapter 2
“Ding!”
The elevator doors slid open. Ava closed her eyes for a moment and walked
out with a calm expression on her face.
As soon as she went out of the building, she met someone she disliked very
much.
Beth Nagel, her half-sister.
“Hey, Ava. Why are you here?” With a smile, Beth looked Ava up and down.
There was a hint of arrogance in her smile. “What happened? Did Damien
throw you out again?”
Ava pursed her lips and didn’t intend to pay Beth any attention. She was
about to walk past Beth when Beth suddenly spoke.
“I’m pregnant,” Beth said all of a sudden, and Ava immediately stopped in her
tracks. “It’s Damien’s baby.”
Ava sucked in a sharp breath, but when she turned to look at Beth, her gaze
was as calm as ever.

“Is that so? Then I should congratulate you for being so shameless. Not only
are you a homewrecker, but you also have an illegitimate baby.”
Hearing that, Beth’s expression changed. She said angrily, “Ava Nagel, aren’t
you a homewrecker’s daughter too? Stop pretending to be high and mighty.
You’re nothing but an illegitimate child!”
Ava’s mother was not a homewrecker. She was deceived by Ava’s father, who pretended to be
unmarried. When she discovered that he was married, she was already pregnant with Ava.
Ava looked away indifferently. Illuminated by the sunlight, her side profile was cold and beautiful. Her
long eyelashes fluttered in the wind.
After a long time, she said, “Beth Nagel, whether I am an illegitimate child or not, I wouldn’t be
shameless enough to seduce a married man, especially my sister’s husband. You’re becoming more
and more shameless indeed.”
“You!” Beth exploded with rage and glared fiercely at Ava. However, she couldn’t think of anything
offensive to say even after a long time.
Ava turned around and left without even giving Beth a glance.
“Ava, Damien will divorce you one day!” Beth shouted as she stared at Ava’s back. “He told me before
that you are the person he hates the most in this world!”
When Ava heard that, she lowered her gaze and walked even more quickly. She then entered her car.
After closing the car door, she switched on the ignition and sped away.
Only after driving a distance away from Radbury Group’s headquarters did she dare to let the sadness
in her heart show on her face.
She parked the car by the roadside and pressed her forehead against the steering wheel. She then bit
her lower lip hard and tried to stomach the pain and bitterness that Damien gave her.
On Saturday, at Dahlia Garden Mansion.
Ava made several calls to Damien, but none of them got through.
They were supposed to meet Damien’s parents tonight. Damien’s parents had never liked Ava, which
was why she was extremely careful every time she was in their presence.
If she was late this time…
Ava’s cell phone suddenly started ringing, jolting her out of her thoughts.
She hurriedly grabbed her phone and looked at the caller display. It was a call from her mother-in-law.
Her heart immediately sank.
“Hello, mum.” Ava only picked up the call after she took a few deep breaths to compose herself.
Damien’s mother, Karen Adaly said, “Ava, Damien is already here. Drive yourself here.”
“What?” Ava was taken aback. Damien actually left her behind and went back
to his parents’ manor alone.
He really didn’t want to see her, did he?

“Ava, what’s your problem? I’m already letting the fact that you never take
care of Damien slide. Now, you can’t even come to our place in the same car
as Damien. You really want a divorce, huh?” Karen scolded Ava right away,
not even bothering to find out what was actually going on.
Ava didn’t know how to defend herself.
Of course, she didn’t want a divorce. If she wanted a divorce, she would have
divorced Damien the first time he cheated on her.
“Just hurry up and come over. I don’t know why I have a troublesome
daughter-in-law like you.” Karen hung up with a bang.
Ava could only bite her lower lip with a wry smile. She quickly packed up her
stuff and went out.
After thinking about it for a while, instead of driving, she decided to take a
cab.
Damien must have driven there. If she drove there too, the two of them would
have to leave the Radbury family’s residence separately. At that time, Karen
would definitely chastise her again.
As it was a Saturday, the traffic was quite bad. By the time Ava arrived, it was
over twelve in the afternoon.
Oh, no. She was late!
