Chapter 1132

Just as the bus came to a halt at a stop, Debby stood up, nudged her foot against Thalassa’s legs

blocking the way, and strode off the bus.

As the bus pulled away, Thalassa’s heart felt like it had been left behind. It was suspended in mid-air

and heavy with pain.

Thalassa was distracted all day long. With her mind somewhere else, she was constantly making

mistakes in the tasks Ethan had set for her.

“Ms. Everhart, you seem out of sorts,” Ethan said, eyeing the documents Thalassa handed him riddled

with typos. It was clear that she wasn’t herself. “Look, you’ve got two hours left. So why don’t you head

home and rest?”

“Mr. Ethan, I’ll get my act together. I promise I…” Thalassa wanted to perform well, but the gloom and

distress wouldn’t lift.

“Trouble with Lysander? A little sweet talk and a man will be putty in your hands.

Especially Lysander. He’s a piece of cake,” Ethan quipped, lifting his head to indulge in a bit of gossip.

What to do?

Ethan’s curiosity about Lysander was irrepressible. If he couldn’t get juicy details from Lysander

himself, he’d pry them out of Thalassa.

Ethan knew this was nosy, but he couldn’t help it – his interest was piqued by none other than

Lysander.

Thalassa was taken aback by Ethan’s abrupt change of topic.

She struggled to keep up with his pace upon seeing the eager, gossip-hungry look on his face.

“Mr. Ethan, we were discussing work,” Thalassa reminded him.

“Ahem…” Realizing he had gotten carried away with Lysander’s affairs, Ethan coughed to ease the

awkwardness. “Go on, take the rest of the day off. The remaining tasks can wait till tomorrow, I’m not in

a rush.”

“Alright then, thank you, Mr. Ethan.” Thalassa didn’t press further. Her mood was too sour to be

productive.

Leaving work two hours early, she pondered where to go. The kids at Royal Estates hadn’t been out of

school yet, and Evelyn hadn’t finished her shift.

Evelyn had found a job as a cleaner which finished at six every evening.

Whichever destination she chose, she would be alone.

her feel stuck.

Stepping out of the Crawley Group building, she looked around blankly. The situation was perplexed

like her own floating life with no home to go.

Thalassa looked up at the sky, took a deep breath, and exhaled, trying to release the weight and

discomfort from deep within.

She attempted several more deep breaths, but her mood remained soaked in sorrow. Her heart was

agonizing and excruciating like it was marooned at sea.

Pulling out her phone, she dialed Hertha. It had been a while since Hertha had reached out, and

Thalassa, caught up in life’s little dramas, hadn’t found the time to get in touch either.

Hoping against hope that Hertha might be free for a chat, Thalassa waited as the phone rang several

times. Just as she was about to give up, Hertha’s cheerful voice came through.

“Thalassa, you called! That’s wonderful! I’ve been meaning to check in with you but didn’t want to

intrude,” Hertha’s voice bubbled with joy.

“Why would you ever be afraid of disturbing me?” Thalassa responded with a wry smile. “Have I

become so unapproachable?”

“Oh, nothing like that,” Hertha replied, her voice brimming with her usual optimism and humor. “I just

didn’t want to bother you during your time with Lysander. He can be quite intimidating, you know.”

Hertha was joyous and comical like before. Her ability to lift spirits was as infectious as ever.
