Chapter 1347
Susan's eyes narrowed as she peered through the crack in the door, her gaze fixated on Lysander, whose
normally stoic face was softened by a look of genuine concern.
And the object of his tenderness? The very woman Susan loathed to her core-Thalassa.
The sight twisted Susan’s heart into a tight knot of rage and venom.
Damn that Thalassa, why didn’t she just drop dead? With her frail, sickly act-whom was she trying to fool?
Was it all just to garner Lysander’s pity?
Susan watched, her breaths coming in harsh, ragged pulls as Lysander cradled Thalassa in his arms, his eyes
revealing a depth of emotion he’d never shown before.
She seethed with a hatred so fierce it made her chest heave. But she couldn’t barge in now, not without facing
Lysander’s wrath. He'd surely turn on her if she laid a finger on Thalassa.
So, biting back her resentment, Susan stormed away.

It didn’t matter. She had ton her side, and she’d make sure that Thalassa and Lysander’s paths diverged
permanently.
After all, Thalassa was starting to believe that Evelyn's death had Lysander’s fingerprints
all over it.
No one could forgive the person responsible for their mother’s demise, especially Thalassa, whose bond with her
mother was unbreakable.
Thalassa’s world had crumbled with her mother’s passing, and the last person she could stomach was the ones
who drove her mom to death.
As pain clutched at Thalassa’s heart, her vision swam and her legs buckled, almost sending her to the ground if
not for Lysander’s firm grasp.
His arms had held her many times before, their strength and tension once setting her pulse racing and her
breaths short.
But now, the very sarms felt like chains, tightening around her and suffocating her
As consciousness clawed back into her mind, she weakly pushed against him, her effort barely a whisper of
strength.
With a feeble voice, she accused, “You had always despised my mother. Now that she’s gone, you must be
pleased.”
Thalassa’s push was feeble, but Lysander could feel the pressure against his arm as though it were a boulder
crushing his chest, making it hard to breathe.

Chapter 1347
“I never hated your mother,” he said, his voice rough with emotion.
Sending Evelyn to the police station had been a spur-of-the-moment decision, especially since Bruce was locked
up at the time, which should have meant safety for her.
It was only later, after David investigated the last call Evelyn received, that they learned the truth. It was Lucy
who had called, telling Evelyn about Bruce's HIV status.

Those words had been the final blow for Evelyn.
“You're lying!” Thalassa’s hands trembled, tears streaming down as she stared at Lysander, breaths jagged with
grief.
He hadn't hated her mother?
From the beginning, he resented her because of her mother’s ties to Bruce. His disdain for Bruce extended to her
mother.
And although he had cleared Sybil’s death of any direct link to Evelyn, he still believed that her mother played a
part in Sybil’s demise like his grandpa. All signs pointed to his contempt for her mother.
Thalassa took a shaky breath and faced Lysander, her voice quivering with every word, “When we were in
Eldoria, you saw my mother fall into the water. You can swim, yet you waited until she was nearly drowning
before you rescued her! And the bedding in my room, just because she had sat on my bed once, you demanded
they be changed!”
Not to mention that he’d gone so far as to manipulate the front desk staff into evicting her mother just to get her
out!
If all these actions weren't proof enough of his disdain, what was?
