Chapter 1338
Breathing ragged and heart racing, Thalassa stared at Lysander, her words deliberate and tense, “I'm not one for
daydreams, and I'd appreciate it if Mr. Sinclair didn’t try to force
them on me!”
Her statement, though resolute, carried an undertone of self-deprecation, echoing like a speck of dust in its
insignificance.
Once upon a time, she had indeed fantasized about marrying Lysander, and she had asked him more than once
if he would ever take her as his wife. What was his response?
He told her not to daydream!
Now she was wide awake and clear-minded, and her only desire was to stay far away from Lysander.
Yet there he was, showing up in the dead of night, proposing to her!
Shock gave way to a bitter, mocking desolation in Thalassa.

Lysander caught the rejection in her voice, along with the desolate tone of a heart that had been wounded and
scarred.
His own heart clenched as though gripped by an invisible hand, the pain tightening its hold, making even his
breaths heavy and labored.
“Get srest. I'll cfor you in the morning,” Lysander’s deep, smooth voice broke the silence as he stood
and walked away.
Thalassa propped herself up in bed, the moonlight casting a ghostly glow on his retreating silhouette. She didn’t
want to see him leave, but his overpowering presence was etched into her vision.
The soft moonlight painted his dark figure with a frosty sheen, reminiscent of a winter's night when leaves are
coated with a layer of frost.
It was a sight that sent an involuntary chill through her heart, an urge to flee.
Lysander walked out the door and closed it gently behind him.
The sound of the door shutting unleashed the tears Thalassa had been holding back. She Tay back down, her
heart drowning in a wave of sour anguish.
The next day, Thalassa’s eyes snapped open to the morning sun so bright it nearly blinded her.
Shielding her eyes, she cto full awareness. She got out of bed and went to check on the children, only to
find their room empty!

Chapter 1338
A sense of crisis hit her. Had Lysander taken the kids away?
Panicked, she rushed outside and then saw four small figures in the vegetable patch, clustered around Astrid.
“Astrid, Mom loves green beans. Let's pick extra for her,” Atticus’ little hands were full of green beans, yet his
eyes were still on the plant, picking more.
“Alright, you pick more so | can cook them for your mom later,” Astrid said fondly, patting Atticus’ head.
Despite her eyes still swollen from last night's crying, the sight of the four adorable children brought a warm

“Astrid, you like potatoes, right? Look how many | dug up!” Elowen held two potatoes with her chubby hands.
The potatoes were smeared with earth, and so were Elowen’s little hands. She beamed a smile, and as she
brushed her face with her hand, streaks of dirt drew whiskers on her cheeks, making her look like a little tabby
cat.
“Elowen, you're so funny with mud all over your face,” Dorian giggled, his laughter as clear as a bell.
Elowen and Dorian were the household's jesters.
Wherever they were, laughter and joy were never far behind.
“Do you want to play with mud too, Dorian?” Elowen asked mischievously.
“No way!” Dorian protested.
“Let's be little kitties together.” Elowen chased after Dorian, her little legs moving fast, hands ready to smear
Dorian’s face with earth.
“I don’t wanna be a kitty. Astrid, save me!” Dorian bolted, running circles around Astrid, trying to evade Elowen’s
playful pursuit.
