“Nonsense!” Lysander snapped, rising in anger and storming out of the Sinclair residence, his stance unequivocally clear.
Zephyr and Amelia exchanged glances as they watched Lysander’s retreating figure, a frosty silhouette of indignation.
The hopeful light in Amelia’s eyes was quickly doused by a wave of disappointment.
And the weight of the world seemed to settle in Zephyr’s aged, milky eyes.

“Then why aren't you smiling?” Elowen’s bright eyes searched Thalassa’s face. She noticed her mother had becmore silent than before. Usually, Thalassa would greet them with a beaming smile, but her expression was marred by worry today.
In her own way, Elowen was trying to make her mommy smile again.
