Chapter 1284 When Thalassa woke up, it was already past three in the afternoon.
Her mom was still asleep, so she quietly got out of bed. Her stomach was growling with hunger, thinking about heading down to the diner to grab sfood.
As she approached the door and swung it open, she nearly bumped into the man outside.
The guy had a handsface with a smile in his eyes and an approachable aura that made him seem easy to get along with.
It was Callum.

He was favoring one foot, unable to put weight on it and using the cane for support, while his other foot stood firm on the ground, one hand wrapped in a bandage slung around his neck. He was clearly in a bit of a bind.
But even with his hobbling, he had brought sfood for them.
Callum'’s face held a gentle smile as he said warmly, “Missed lunch, didn’t we? | got us sfood from the diner downstairs. Let's eat.” Hearing Callum’s words, Thalassa felt a small tug at her heartstrings, realizing he had indeed brought the takeout for her and her mother.
“Thalassa, who is it?” called out Evelyn from inside.
Thalassa looked back and replied, “It's Mr. Gordon.” [x] “You're up,” Callum called into the room.
“Mr. Gordon, con in,” said Evelyn warmly.
Thalassa stepped aside, “Mr. Gordon, please cin.” Callum didn’t stand on ceremony, limping his way inside.
Watching him struggle to walk, Thalassa instinctively reached out to help him. But then, she hesitated as a thought struck her, and she let her hand drop, giving up the idea of assisting him.
Her life was already a mess. She couldn’t drag Callum into it.
She couldn't let him get the wrong idea.
1/2 He had joked before about liking her, making her realize that she had to keep her distance from Callum.

Evelyn instinctively helped Callum towards the nearest bed to sit down.
Normally, this would be a common gesture since there were no chairs in the room and guests usually sat on the bed if there wasn’t much fuss about it.
But Thalassa remembered how Lysander had insisted on changing the sheets just because Callum had sat on the bed the day before.
So she quickly interjected, “Mr. Gordon, why don’t you take a seat on the window seat sofa over here? It's genuine leather, quite soft and comfortable.” Although there weren't any chairs in the room, there was a small leather sofa by the window. It was just a bit out of the way, and not the first place someone would think to sit when entering the room.
Callum was just about to sit on the bed when he paused at Thalassa’s suggestion.
He was stuck in a halfway sit-stand that was all kinds of awkward.
Evelyn shot Thalassa a complaining look, “What are you thinking, honey? Mr. Gordon is injured. Why make him sit all the way over there by the window?” While Evelyn scolded Thalassa, Callum spoke up in Thalassa’s defense, “Don’t be hard on her. You are ladies, and I'm a man. It’s inappropriate forto be sitting on your bed. I'll head over to the window seat.”
