Chapter 57

“Sign here.” One of the police officers handed a document to Anastasia.

“It’s important to communicate well between spouses and show care for each other,” the older police

officer advised Alastor. “Don’t wait until your wife ends up in the hospital with a bone fracture without

knowing what’s happening.”

He then turned to Anastasia. “You, too. If you have something, call your husband. Calling other men, of

course, would lead to a fight.”

Anastasia listened in silence, unable to help but contemplate, “Call Alastor? Well, I most likely would

have ended up dead last night.”

Anastasia let out a sarcastic laugh and signed the document.

Alastor stood by Anastasia’s side, and the two of them didn’t communicate throughout the entire

process.

The police officers also noticed it, but they didn’t say anything

It was hard for an outsider to meddle in domestic affairs.

“Did you just come from the hospital? You don’t look well,” the older police officer asked:

Anastasia remained silent.

“Let your husband take you back,” the police officer instructed Alastor to escort Anastasin.

Alastor simply looked at Anastasia with indifference without saying anything

“No need…” Anastasia shook her head.

It appeared as though Alastor had been waiting for Anastasia’s “no need.” The moment she uttered

those words, Alastor departed without even glancing back.

“Hey? Ma’am” one of the officers exclaimed.

“Ms. Lawson?” Another officer, who was closer to Anastasia, quickly reached out to help her up.

Alastor hadn’t reached the door yet, and Anastasia couldn’t stand still any longer.

She lowered her head and wiped away the dark nosebleed, but suddenly her vision went black, and

Anastasia fell to the ground.

The police officers rushed over and called 911 in a nervous state.

As for Alastor, he paused at the doorway, glanced back, and then left without even looking back.

It was as if Anastasia was a total stranger with no connection to him whatsoever.

Numbly, Anastasia lay on the ground, her gaze feeble as she watched Alastor’s retreating figure.

Anastasia observed everything. Felicia rushed nervously toward Alastor and embraced him, and

Alastor comforted Felicia. And finally, Anastasia saw them leave together in a car.

This tragic life. It seemed like Anastasia must have committed heinous sins in her previous life.

Inside the hospital, when Anastasia regained consciousness, darkness had settled outside.

She didn’t know how long she had been unconscious.

This time, there was no one beside her.

Perhaps, Jason had also become thoroughly disappointed with her.

Taking a deep breath, Anastasia looked at the IV bag, remaining silent for a long time.

“You’re pregnant, and with your hormone levels unstable, it’s easy to faint at this stage. Given your

situation, you’re probably well aware of it. We recommend that you terminate this pregnancy. The

doctor also noted that something was amiss with Anastasia’s test results. He had reached our to

Anastasia’s attending physician. “We’ve also tried contacting your husband from our end, but… he’s

not answering the phone.”

Numbly, Anastasia nodded. “I’m sorry, we’re getting divorced. This matter… There’s no point in telling

him.”

The doctor was momentarily taken aback before letting out a sigh. “Your attending physician has

already been here. We’ve deliberated on a treatment strategy. There’s a highly effective early

intervention approach, but it necessitates terminating your pregnancy. Your health cannot withstand

any further delay.

The doctor observed Anastasia’s reaction and spoke again. “Ms. Lawson, you’re still young. After your

illness is treated, you’ll have plenty of chances to have children. Your life is more important.”

Considering Anastasia’s condition, the doctor believed there was still a chance.

After all, she was young, and her physical condition was far superior to that of elderly individuals in

their 60s or 70s.

Seeing Anastasia remain silent, the doctor sighed. “This is just my personal recommendation. Take

your time to think it over, Once you’ve made a decision, contact your attending physician.”

“Thank you…” Anastasia nodded weakly and leaned against the bedside, feeling drained.

She was torn between choosing her child or her own life.

Anastasia didn’t even notice that the IV drip had run out and turned red after some time had passed.

“Why is there so much blood?” A murse came in for rounds and rushed over in alarm, quickly removing

the needle from Anastasia.

“I’m sorry… I didn’t see it. Anastasia’s voice was hoarse.

The nurse paused, looking at Anastasia. “Is your husband Alastor?”

Anastasia glanced up at the nurse. It was someone she recognized, a distant relative from Alastor’s

family who had gotten married on May 1st this year. Both Anastasia and Alastor had attended the

wedding.

“Anastasia, it really is you.” The nurse chuckled at Anastasia. “I saw Alastor at the obstetrics and

gynecology department earlier. So, you’re here.”

Anastasia’s fingers were starting to tingle.

Alastor appeared in the obstetrics and gynecology department, not for her, but for Felicia, it seemed.

“You see, speak of the devil, and he appears,” the nurse quipped, turning around to see Alastor

standing at the doorway of the

room.

He had changed his clothes and didn’t look as disheveled as he did at the police station.

He held a file folder in his hand, his demeanor extremely indifferent.

“Alastor, what a comcidence,” the nurse greeted Alastor and then left.

Alastor nodded and approached the bed, handing the file folder to Anastasia. “Take a look.”

Anastasia opened the file folder and glanced inside. It contained Alastor’s will declaration and a divorce

agreement. “Don’t be too greedy. This is already my bottom line,” Alastor said.

Alastor had not agreed to the terms and conditions after the divorce, where he would never marry

Felicia, and Felicia’s child would not inherit his estate
