Chapter 48
To Soren, it was probably as easy as taking candy from a baby.
| hesitated. Should | contact him to express my gratitude?
| thought about it for a while and decided to stick to my usual principle: a little gratitude could never hurt.
Whether he accepted it or not was up to him.
1 sifted through the stack of business cards | had collected and found the one Michael had given me.
Michael answered the phone. “Miss Jones, hello.”
This must be Soren’s PR office’s number. Someone like him wouldn't hand out his personal contact details so
casually.
“Hi, Mr. Kidd. Id like to thank Mr. Kenway for his help yesterday. Is this a good time?” | asked, getting straight to
the point.
“Of course, Miss Jones. Just a moment,” he replied.
“Got it.”

| remembered how he had addressed me-Fair Miss Taylor ones.
It sounded like something a lord’s retainer might say to a lady in a medieval tale. | had a feeling Michael had
used that formality because Maddison was there.
Now that it was just the two of us, it was back to the more straightforward “Miss Jones.”
Why was everyone around Soren so emotionally intelligent?
1 heard srustling on the other end of the line before a cool, composed voice reached me. “You were looking
for me, Miss Jones?”
| straightened up and forced a smile, even though he couldn't see me. “Good morning, Mr. Kenway. Thank you so
much for your help yesterday.
“The bracelet you returned was my late mother’s. That's why it meant so much to me-and why your gesture
truly saved me.
“To show my gratitude, I'd like to treat you to lunch and discuss my plan to gradually repay you.
“Oh, and the 7,000,000 dollars | borrowed from you-I can return it now, with interest, since | didn’t end up
needing it.”
| paused, waiting for his reply.
| was certain he would decline-he must be busy every single day. But that was fine. | was mostly saying it as a
gesture of gratitude.
“Please hold for a moment,” he said.
“O-Okay. No rush!” | replied, trying to sound casual to cover up my anxiety.
Oh no, my call must have interrupted his work!
| could hear him speaking to Michael briefly, probably giving instructions or making sarrangements.
A little while later, he returned. “When?”
Chapter 48
| was a bit confused. “Sorry, could you repeat that?”
He chuckled. “When is the meal?”
Oh my God. He said yes. He said yes!

“Uh... Tomorrow's Friday, so... how about tomorrow night? | suggested.
“Sounds good,” he replied.
“I'll make the reservation and let you know where it is,” | said.
“Mm-hmm.”
My heart was practically dancing. | felt a little lightheaded, almost giddy.
Just as | was about to hang up, he spoke again. “Miss Jones?”
“Yes! How can | help you?”
“You should have my personal number. It's easier to reachthis way,” he remarked.
“Oh, right! T-Thank you!” | scribbled his number down on a notepad. “See you tomorrow."
“Likewise.”
The call ended, and | sat there, basking in the moment.
