Chapter 116 (+23) Alex stepped closer to Ellie, watching every expression on her face closely. "I know you're upset because your bracelet broke. Take tomorrow off and I'll take you to an auction to get you a new one." Remembering the broken bracelet, Ellie couldn't help but tear up. "That bracelet was from my grandpa to my grandma, then my grandma to my dad, and my dad to my mom." Ellie choked up, tears in her eyes. With an unusually cold look, she said, “My mom wore that bracelet for thirty years. It's a symbol of two generations of marriages in my family. What will you use to replace it?" The redness in Ellie's eyes cut through Alex's nerves. Meeting her gaze, he felt frustration mixed with a bit of panic. "Ellie, stop being unreasonable, can you? The bracelet's broken. Where am I supposed to find another one just like it?" Ellie sneered, "So you do get that broken things can't be fixed?" "What do you mean?" Alex frowned.

Ellie said, "That broken bracelet is just like my relationship with you and Haley now. It's shattered and can't be fixed." The two locked eyes, and it felt like the whole world went silent, leaving just the two of them.

Alex looked down into Ellie's eyes intently, and after a long pause, he finally spoke, "Ellie, are you planning to treatlike an enemy?" Ellie met Alex's gaze bravely, not backing down. "An enemy? No, but being strangers works well enough." Alex narrowed his eyes dangerously, keeping his gaze locked on Ellie. For the first time, Ellie looked at him with such a cold expression and said she wanted them to be strangers.

"We're just strangers now? Fine," Alex snapped as he shoved the lunch box into Ellie's hands. He released it, turned on his heel, and walked off.

Ellie stubbornly held the lunch box and turned to walk in the opposite direction. She thought as long as her heart stayed strong, she wouldn't be the one crying in the end.

Not far behind, Alex gradually cto a stop. He looked back at Ellie, realizing she didn't even glance back. "Ungrateful girl," he muttered through clenched teeth and continued walking.

After a few more steps, he looked back again, not willing to give up, only to see Ellie already at the crosswalk, ready to cross the street. His eyes turned red. "Ellie, if I ever cto you again I'm a fool."

With that, Alex turned around and started walking forward again m However after only a few steps, there EMI was a sudden loud noise behind him.

He turned around and saw Ellie being grabbed by a man and thrown onto a motorcycle. The food box he gave fronto her fell, with muffins spilling all over the ground. "Ellie!" he shouted. TT:08 Thu, Jan 30 khi BB•
