Chapter 276:
After sending the message, she placed her phone down and instinctively glanced toward Kristopher. When their
eyes met, Belinda noticed that Kristopher was staring at her intently. His gaze held a chill and a hint of anger
that she couldn’t quite understand.
She felt puzzled, unsure of what she had done to upset him again. However, she knew this wasn’t the right time
to address it.
She opened the car door. “I know where Fred is. Let's go find him.” As she stepped out, Kristopher’s eyes
narrowed. He followed her, his tone frosty. “You messaged Fred the moment we parked. You seem very
concerned about him.”
Belinda turned back to him, her expression filled with confusion. “Fred could be discovered at any moment. I'm
here to save him; of course, I'm concerned.”
Could his icy demeanor simply be because of her worry about Fred? This thought paused her, and she faced him
with sudden uncertainty. “Kristopher, are you... jealous?”

said, “You're awfully sure of yourself, aren't you?”
Without waiting for a reply, he brushed past her and headed briskly toward the dormitory building.
Belinda rolled her eyes at his departing figure and followed him at a distance.
They reached the gate of the boys’ dormitory shortly after. It was late; under normal circumstances, the doors
would have been securely locked. However, the gate stood conspicuously open, likely because the men in black
had coerced the elderly dormitory administrator into leaving it so. Instead of the usual administrator, two stern
men in black guarded the entrance.
Belinda’s expression shifted subtly to one of concern. Clearly, these men were not here to offer help; they were
stationed to prevent Fred from making a covert escape.
“Stay out of sight,” Kristopher whispered abruptly, pausing to glance back at Belinda.
She nodded, whispering in return, “What's your plan?”

After a brief exchange of whispers detailing his approach, Kristopher strode confidently towards the dormitory
gate. Belinda, doing as instructed, concealed herself behind a large vase near the entrance.
“What are you doing here?” one of the men in black demanded as Kristopher neared.
With a serious frown, Kristopher answered authoritatively, “I've never seen you before. When did you start
working here? How long have you been on duty?”
His questioning momentarily disoriented the two men.
“You are...”
“I'm the dean of this school,” Kristopher stated firmly, his voice carrying a blend of disdain and authority. “There
have been reports of students sneaking out at night. It’s my duty to occasionally inspect the dormitory during
these hours to monitor the comings and goings.” He scrutinized them with a chilling gaze. “You weren't here
yesterday. Identify yourselves. If your answers don’t satisfy me, | will not hesitate to involve the police.”
The two men glanced at each other, their unease palpable. Hired merely to track down an individual, they were
unprepared for a confrontation that might escalate to legal complications. Thinking quickly, one of the men in
black replied with a friendly smile, “We're the nephews of the dorm administrator. He's under the weather today,
so we're filling in to help keep an eye on things.” They then stepped aside, allowing Kristopher to pass.
