Chapter 95 Sarah's Pov.

I sat at the edge of the couch, staring at the news report on TV, my heart sinking as Richard's face flashed across the screen.

The scandal was everywhere-headlines blaring accusations, journalists picking apart every move Richard had ever made.

They were talking about him as if he were skind of villain as if he were guilty without question. I couldn't pull my eyes away from the screen, even though every word felt like a punch to the gut. The phone calls had started early. Friends, family, even reporters calling for statements. I ignored them all, feeling helpless, a pit growing in my stomach.

I knew Richard hadn't done what they were saying. But I also knew that the damage to his reputation was happening in real time, and there was nothing we could do to stop it.

Richard had been gone since dawn, trying to get ahead of the chaos. He'd called a few times, each tsounding a little more exhausted, a little more defeated.

He was trying to keep it together for both of us, but I could hear the strain in his voice. And each twe hung up, I felt everything press down ona little harder.

I glanced down at the document I'd found in our files. It was the reason I'd been up all night, pouring over every line, every signature, hoping to find something that would clear his name.

And what I'd found instead... It made my blood run cold. There was a connection-a familiar nthat I'd hoped never to see associated with Richard.

There, in black and white, was a signature I recognized all too well. Richard's old business partner, someone who had been like family to him-who I knew he still trusted.

And yet, the signature linked him to the network. The one that was tearing our lives apart.

My mind was racing. I knew what this meant, how much it would hurt Richard. I looked up at the family photos on the wall, the faces smiling back at me.

Richard, laughing with his father when he was young. He'd lost so much already. Was I really about to add to that loss? "Maybe I'm wrong," I muttered to myself, clutching the paper tightly. "Maybe... there's an explanation." But no, deep down, I knew this wasn't a mistake. The evidence was clear, and the weight of it pressed down on my chest like a boulder.

I couldn't keep this from him, could I? If he found out I knew, that I'd kept it hidden-no, that wasn't an option. We had promised honesty.

But knowing that and actually telling him were two different things.

As I stared at the paper, memories flooded back. I thought of the times Richard had opened up to me, and trustedwith his fears and regrets.

He'd been trying so hard lately, lettingin even when it hurt him. How could I keep this from him now? I knew this information would break something inside him. But if I kept it hidden, I'd be betraying him too.

I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath, steadying myself. I had to be brave. For him, for us. I'd tell him. Even if it meant tearing open old wounds, even if it meant he'd never look atthe sway again. Just then, the front door opened, and Richard stepped in, looking as exhausted as I'd ever seen him. His tie was loosened, his hair mussed, and there was a hollowness in his eyes that made my heart ache. "Richard," I whispered, rising from the couch.

He forced a tired smile, but it didn't reach his eyes. "Hey," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Rough evening, huh?" I didn't know what to say. I just went over and wrapped my arms around him, hoping he could feel how much I believed in him, how much I knew he was innocent.

He leaned into the hug, letting out a deep sigh, and for a moment, we just stood there in silence, holding each other.

When he pulled back, he looked down at me, his expression serious. "Sarah... There's something I have to tell you. I think... I think we have a mole in our inner circle. Someone close to us, maybe even someone I've trusted for years." My heart pounded. "You mean... someone like James?" He shook his head. "No. Not James." He hesitated, glancing away before meeting my eyes again.

"I think it might be my old partner. Someone who was there when my father passed. Someone who knew all the details of our business."

I swallowed hard, feeling a chill run down my spine. He knew. He'd cto the sconclusion I had. The a evidence in my hand now felt like a heavy burden, one couldn't hide fromhiman from him anymore. "I... I found something," I admitted, pulling out the document and handing it to him. His eyes widened as he scanned the page, and I could see the hurt and anger flickering across his face as he read. "When did you find this?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Last night," I said, feeling a pang of guilt for not telling him sooner. "I was up all night going through the files, looking for anything that might help 上 us prove your innocence. And then I found... this." He clenched his jaw, setting the paper down on the table. "So it's true. He betrayed me."

I reached for his hand, trying to give him whatever comfort could "We'll get through this Richard. We'll find a way to clear your nand bring him to justice." He shook his head, looking away. "It's not just about clearing my name, Sarah. It's about everything I thought I knew. Everything I believed in." He took a shaky breath. "I trusted him. And now... now he's part of the reason we're in this mess." I felt a lump in my throat, knowing that he was speaking the truth.
