Chapter 48 Has He See Us
Arthur asked, “Who are you looking for? | can help you find them.”
Jayce pressed his lips, his gaze shifting toward the direction of the restroom. But he quickly lowered his eyes
again, muttering, “My grandfather said she’s called Ms. Aroma.”
Hearing this, Arthur raised an eyebrow. “Her incense sticks had an effect on you, didn’t it?”
“Yes,” Jayce answered.
Arthur nodded. “Alright, I'll find her and
bring her to you.”
Jayce said nothing.

Jayce thought, “I have already found her.
But it seems she doesn’t want to acknowledge him.”
Jayce didn’t know why.
He felt that it might be because he scared her.
He thought that if that were the case, he wouldn't go looking for her. He didn’t want to fright her further.

Charlotte finished retouching her makeup and walked out distractedly. As she rounded the corner, she saw
Jayce’s figure disappearing through the emergency exit.

Her eyes lit up, and she immediately followed him.
The stairwell was quiet, in stark contrast to the bustling charity gala.
Charlotte closed the door behind her and said, “Jayce.”
The slender figure paused for a moment, then slowly turned his face in the dim light, staring at her intently.
Charlotte walked right up to him, her gaze fixed on his eyes. “You saw my face, didn’t you?”
Jayce didn’t speak or react. The green light from the emergency exit sign flickered on his face, illuminating the
mole at the corner of his eye, making him appear more seductive and eerie.

Charlotte felt her palms sweat from nervousness. She spoke quickly, “Can | ask you for a favor? Please don’t tell
anyone about my identity. You can ask for anything, and I'll do whatever it takes to meet your request.”
Jayce blinked slowly, his eyes falling downward to conceal the emotions hiding beneath them.
“Is that okay?”
Seeing that Jayce didn’t respond, Charlotte asked again.
Jayce finally spoke, “Do you still have those incense sticks from that day?”
“Yes,” Charlotte replied quickly. “But | didn’t bring it today. How about we set up

a time, and I'll give it to you then?”
“Okay.”
Jayce said this softly, then took out his phone.
He was silent and delicate, impossible to read.
Charlotte added his phone number. “I'll make sure to supply you with the incense sticks whenever you need it.”
Jayce didn’t respond. He pocketed his phone and turned to leave.
Charlotte let out a small sigh of relief. Seeing he had agreed, she felt that the weight hanging over her head
lifted.
As she opened the stairwell door, she was
suddenly startled!

Arthur was standing right there as if he
was about to push the door
open.
Her heart, which had just calmed, sank again.
She thought, “What is going on?
Has he seen us?”

After a brief pause, she cautiously asked, “I have that right, don't I?”
Arthur's lips pressed into a thin line. He glanced behind her, but there was no one in sight.
Earlier, Delia had cto find him, saying Jayce had disappeared again and asking for his help. As Arthur walked
this way, he saw Charlotte entering the stairwell.
Recalling Jayce’s strange persistence and his strange words, a flicker of suspicion rose in Arthur's chest.
He had cstraight here, and when he pushed open the door, he saw her here.
Charlotte told him that she was just here to get sair.

“Sure.”
He responded coldly, “As my wife, you should be by my side at all times.”
“Alright.”
Charlotte nodded and linked her arm with
his.
Arthur glanced down at her slender arm resting on his, the tips of her fingers curled lightly around his arm, and
the coldness in his eyes softened a little.
