Chapter 29 A Cruel Reminder
The warm-toned room felt like a soft embrace, with Julius curled up in Sarah’s arms. His tiny hand was tightly
gripping hers, his feverish face flushed, his little brow drawn in discomfort.
Sarah gently stroked his back, occasionally checking his forehead to see if his temperature had gone down.
Arthur sat nearby, his usual icy demeanor softened with concern as he watched his
son.
“Mom...”
Julius’ weak, hoarse voice broke the silence, his call barely a whisper.
Sarah held him close, her voice soothing. “It’s okay, Julius. You'll be feeling better soon.”
Charlotte stood frozen at the door, her fingers gripping the doorfras if it might anchor her.
Her heart felt as if it were being torn apart, every stab of pain a reminder of how much they had all moved on
without her.
Tears stung her eyes, but she quickly blinked them away, forcing herself to stay calm.
She had always known it would end up like this.
Arthur loved Sarah deeply, and Julius
wanted nothing more than to call Sarah Mom.

Coming here had been nothing but a cruel reminder of what she had lost.
Her gaze shifted from Julius’ pained face to Arthur, whose eyes flickered between his son and Sarah.
His
gaze softened whenever it lingered on Sarah, and Charlotte couldn't help but feel a sharp pang in her chest.
It was as if she had been slapped, every part of her aching.
She forced herself to speak, taking a slow breath. “It looks like he’s fine now... I'll just leave.”
Seeing this scene only made her more

determined to pretend she’d forgotten them, to walk away and never look back.
She couldn't help but wonder why she hadn't truly forgotten them.

If she had, maybe this pain wouldn't be so unbearable.
The room fell silent as everyone turned to look at her.
Sarah's face paled, and she quickly tried to explain. “Mrs. Harrison, it’s not what you think. Letexplain.”
Charlotte blinked, her clear eyes filled with confusion. “Explain what?”
“I...” Sarah hesitated, then awkwardly said, “I cto bring something to Mrs. Jennifer Harrison. She said Julius

fever, so | cto check on him. | thought holding him might make him feel more comfortable... Mrs. Harrison,
please don’t be angry. | never meant to take your place.”
Charlotte smiled faintly. “I'm not upset. You've been taking great care of him. If that’s all, I'll be going now.”
Without another word, she turned to leave, not sparing Arthur a single glance.
Sarah's eyes glinted with satisfaction, but Arthur suddenly stood up, walking out quickly.
Sarah was taken aback. “Arthur, aren’t you going to stay with Julius?”
Arthur's voice was tight with frustration. “You're here. That's enough.”

His irritation grew, especially at the sight of Charlotte's indifference. It only made him more upset.
“Is she really just going to walk away like this? Not even check on Julius, the son she used to adore?” The
thought deepened his scowl.
Charlotte descended the stairs, giving Robert a brief smile before hurrying out of the villa.
She needed to leave quickly. If she stayed any longer, she might break.
Suddenly, a gust of wind swept by, and she felt a firm grip tighten around her wrist, stopping her in her tracks.
“Charlotte.”

Arthur's grip was unrelenting as he turned her to face him, his gaze colder than ever.
“Aren’t you going to check on Julius?”
Chapter 30 She'll Regret
Charlotte had no idea what Arthur was trying to do.
His beloved was right here, yet he was chasing after her.
Charlotte's fingers trembled slightly as emotions swirled in her chest. She could feel the weight of the act she
was putting on, and it was getting harder to maintain the facade.
But just then, a cool night breeze swept through, scattering the chaos inside her and bringing sclarity to her
thoughts.
She blinked innocently, offering him a casual shrug. “I already checked on him.”
Her expression was as indifferent as ever, her eyes showing no hint of concern for Julius at all.
Arthur didn’t like the version of Charlotte, who had lost her memory.
His grip on her wrist tightened, his hand almost trembling with the force. His gaze, sharp and unwavering, fixed
on her. “He’s still burning up.”
Charlotte nodded, her voice smooth and disinterested. “Just give him smedicine and keep an eye on him. If
it doesn’t help, take him to the hospital. He's still so young. You don’t want him to end up with brain damage
from this fever.”
Her words were calm, almost detached.

Arthur's grip tightened even further, and she winced, a sharp breath escaping her lips as she tried to pull away.
“Arthur, what the hell are you doing? You're hurting me!”
Arthur sneered, “You know what pain is? | thought you didn’t have a heart.”
The words cut deep, and Charlotte's chest tightened painfully. She lowered her
eyes, blinking rapidly to hold back the wave of emotion threatening to spill over. “Arthur, that’s a cruel thing to
say. Of course, | have a heart. It's just that | treat people the way they treat me.”
She had given him five years of her heart, but now she was taking it back. They didn’t deserve it anymore.
The sudden ache in Arthur's chest was

almost overwhelming. His emotions boiled inside him, a mix of pain, frustration, and helplessness.
She no longer seemed to care for him.
Even her son, the child she had once cherished, seemed to have faded from her heart.
Arthur couldn't stand the thought.

He desperately wanted her to remember, to becthe woman she had once been.
Before he could voice his thoughts, Robert's voice interrupted. “Mr. Harrison, Mr. Julius Harrison is looking for
you.”
Seizing the opportunity when his
attention shifted, Charlotte quickly pulled her wrist free from his grip, massaging

the sore spot. “Go check on him. I'll leave now.”
She turned to walk away, but after a few steps, she paused, not bothering to look back. “And don’t callif
anything happens to him. If | ever regain my memory, I'm sure | wouldn't want to face this awkward situation.”
With that, she hurried out of the
courtyard and into her car, leaving Arthur standing in the fading light, watching as she drove off.
He stood there for a long moment, his gaze locked on her retreating figure.
Her hand had been so cold when he had held it, yet the night air wasn’t chilly. His fingers absently rubbed
together as a thought nagged at him.
“Mr. Harrison?” Robert's voice brought him back to the present.

Arthur snapped out of his trance and turned toward the villa, his jaw clenched.
Inside, Sarah was waiting for him, a look of urgency on her face. “Arthur, Julius’ condition isn’t right... he’s
burning up.”
Arthur's expression darkened. “Take him to the hospital.”
Without wasting another moment, he moved swiftly, lifting the feverish Julius into his arms. The boy, disoriented
and weak from the fever, clung to his father’s shirt, murmuring for his mother.
Arthur's face tightened as he glanced down at his son. His mind wandered to
Charlotte, the woman who no longer
remembered him. The ache in his chest intensified, but he bit down on his , frustration.
“When she remembers,” he thought bitterly, “she’ll regret all of this.”

Meanwhile, Charlotte's car was already far from the villa, its speed slow as she kept her focus on the road, her
vision blurry from unshed tears.
The cold touch of her cheek made her aware of the moisture on her skin, and when she wiped her face with her
hand, it caway damp.
