Chapter 888

"Sherilyn?" Sherilyn pulled her phone from her jeans pocket and dialed a number. "Hey... where are you? I've got

a fever, at the local clinic getting an IV. Can you ckeepcompany? Great... see you soon."

After hanging up, Sherilyn turned to Gilbert. "He'll be here any minute... you should go."

Gilbert, feeling a bit pushed out, reluctantly agreed. "I guess I'll head out then."

"Take care..."

Gilbert left the IV room and headed for the parking lot. A figure brushed past him.

"Hey? Sherilyn? You at the clinic?" Rebecca White, phone in hand, didn't even notice Gilbert. She hurried along, "I

was almost at Sunset Ridge Community when you called... Okay, | got it! I'll be there soon!" She pocketed her

phone and jogged away.

Gilbert, however, stood frozen. He had heard everything Rebecca White said. What was going on? That call

Sherilyn made wasn't to Edgar, but to Rebecca White? Why? When you're sick and feeling down, shouldn't you

be calling your boyfriend first? The doubts swirling in Gilbert's mind were getting thicker. There had to be

something wrong between Sherilyn and Edgar!

Driving out of the parking lot, Gilbert, lost in thought, called Yates. "It's me. Is Edgar with you?"

"Yeah, he's here."

"Where are you guys? Sendyour location."

"Sure, con over."

After hanging up, Gilbert rushed to the location Yates sent. Upon arrival, in the private room, Gilbert scanned for

Edgar and walked straight up to him once he found him. "Edgar."

"Mr. Gilbert..."

Edgar barely started speaking when Gilbert cut him off. "Outside, now!"

Gilbert, frowning, led the way out with Edgar following. Outside, the corridor was quiet. Gilbert, hands in pockets,

tilted his chin up and got straight to the point, "Did you have a fight with Sherilyn?"

"...?" Edgar was taken aback, silent for a moment, "Why do you ask?"

"Hah!" Seeing Edgar's calm demeanor only fueled Gilbert's anger, "How dare you ask? Aren't you Sherilyn's

boyfriend? Don't you contact her at all during the day? She's unwell! She fainted from a high fever! You didn't

know? What kind of boyfriend are you?

Sherilyn was sick? Edgar's eyes flickered, his heart aching. Yet, he managed to smile faintly, "Is that so? | didn't

know."

"I" Gilbert's eyes flashed coldly, his lips tight, "What nonsense are you spouting? You're her boyfr="

"I'm not." Edgar interrupted calmly, "I'm not Sherilyn's boyfriend, never have been."

"What...?" Gilbert was shocked, disbelieving. "Are you insane? Or did | hear wrong?"

"I'm not insane, and you heard right." Edgar looked at him steadily, his tone even, "Sherilyn and | are not in a

romantic relationship. Whether she's sick or not, it's none of my

business..."

"Bullshit!" Suddenly grabbing Edgar by the collar, Gilbert's eyes were icy. His temples throbbed. "What do you

mean? Explain yourself!" "It means, | don't like Sherilyn anymore."
